New ESPN Homepage

As you can tell ESPN finally got around to laying out a new homepage. About time they did

www.espn.com

Overall I like the new look and feel they have brought for us to enjoy

Lateral move, if you ask me. I do like that it's a bit tidier.

I don't know, I tried loading it up and I got three pop-ups, my computer froze, and I was left with an audio loop of Stuart Scott saying, "Booo Yeah!" and the first three lines of the page with a big Insider (tm) logo below them. I think I'll stay away.

I wouldn't have noticed it without this thread as the MLB page is still the same and that's what I have bookmarked.

Seriously, ESPN is one of the stupidest professional web sites out there. If you are not using the right browsers you'll get bombarded with pop-ups (and I feel like there is spyware on there as well), and it is the slowest loading page out of all the web sites I visit. They need to learn from CNNSI and Yahoo! that clean and simple is better than flashy, crappy load times.

I'll agree with this. ESPNs web page has been terrible. I don't know if this one is any better, but it looks like it still tries to do too much.

I haven't gone to ESPN's main page in years, and rarely visit any part of the site aside from a few of the message boards. It's just not worth it. They don't offer anything of value, or anything that can't be gotten from other, better websites.

I went there like I always do during lunch. I use mozilla and open all the pages at once with tabs from the front page. Of course, THIS webpage won't let me open tabs on some of the stuff. Let me tell you, I was pissed.

I like the new page! If they could get rid of the repeat Sportscenters and just have one then it would be good!
Here's some ideas on things they could put on ESPN in the weekday mornings intill 1st and ten comes on at 3:30
6am to 7am Sportscenter
7am to 9am Cold Pizza or another show like Good Morning America but in Sports version
9am to 10am A Sports Talk Show with maybe Kenny M. or Gary Miller or Bob Ley or somebody else hosting it! It would be like Elen's or Tony's and other shows but in a Sports version
10am to 11am Sports Bloopers
11am to 12pn Sports Night reruns
12pm to 12:30pm Sports Jeopardy
12:30pm to 1pm Sports Millionare
1pm to 4pm The Dan Patrick Radio show on TV
Ist and ten wouldn't be on ESPN at 3:30pm then
You can give your schedule ideas too if you want

You're making me choose between Ellen and ESPN's talk show?

No! They wouldn't be on at the same time as Ellen and if one was in your area you could catch Ellen on Oxygen at night for a repeat! What I suggetsed would get better ratings then Sportscenter repeats!

Bloopers during lunch(ish) hours!? Hell no... Sure they are fun, but wear thin quickly.

Also Sports Night.......... to quote Stewie, "It's a comedy that's too good to be funny!" that SOC can be left dead.

Keeping the ESPN tab open always slow my computer down. Good ways to fix that?

You can find the fix at sportsillustrated.cnn.com. No Ellen reruns though.

the formatting for player pages and what not is well done.

But the main site and it's extreme slow load time sucks ass.

It's good I guess that the main page is finally inline with the layout of the subpages for each sport.

OTOH, I've found the sport pages (MLB and NFL particularly) impossible to navigate since they were changed however long ago. I'm not sure why they decided to get rid of the nice navigation bar on the left of each page, I used it fairly extensively. For instance, if I wanted to look at updated park factors, I could just click on MLB and then Park Factors. Now I just search google for "ESPN mlb park factors" since finding them via the site is tedious. Really, I've been hating the new layout since they rolled out the MLB site and it took extra clicks to just get to the friggen Phillies page, when originally I could access it by clicking on MLB and snagging Philadelphia from the dropdown menu.

I'm a little undecided on this one. I didn't like the change at first, but it's growing on me. Figuratively speaking.

Mike and Mike have made it on TV because they are know ESPN2 next maybe ESPN!
Dan Patrick was on one time I think for College Basketball on Sunday night with his Radio Show!
If not Sports Bloopers then Stump the Schwab and 2 Minute Drill!
Maybe Up Close can come back!
Maybe a weekday version of Sports Reporters!

Yeah, whenever they changed those pages, I basically stopped visiting espn.com

That place is just too unwieldy.
