I think it was March Madness, and them having home courts used. And bowl games. Essentially, eliminate all neutral-site games in the post-season and just go with home sites determined by who had the best record/seeding/ranking.

Oh, and mg, what do you do if the two NFL teams have the same record and didn't play head to head? What's your favorite tiebreaker?

See, I would go with scarier mascot. And if that happened, I'd start up a team called the Polio Blankets, just in case I ever faced Washington in the Super Bowl.

Now that would be exciting!

Al Michaels: And Edgerrin James is running up the middle and Mike Rucker drills him... wait, where's James going?

*James floats off into space and can't be stopped.*

John Madden: What a thwack! All those years we've talked about guys defying gravity and Edgerrin James is at the front of the pack. Nothing like the Superbowl to bring out the best in these players, I saw Vanderjacht kicking 200 yard field field goals in the warm up.

REF: Dammit, that was our last ball, too.

It would make for great TV!

Well, in fairness, the NFL championship game used to be played as mcgsports has suggested — it was played at one of the two cities involved. The Super Bowl originally began as a playoff game between the champions of the NFL and AFL, and was held at a neutral site rather than one of the competitor's homes. In 1970, when the AFL was absorbed into the NFL, the Super Bowl became the NFL championship game but the idea of using a neutral site for the game was retained.

I do think the two week layoff for teams before the Super Bowl is annoying. One week is sufficient the rest of the season, and the two week break just stretches things out needlessly.

There isn't always the two week break. I'm not sure how it is decided whether there will be an extra week or not, but I know it isn't always there.

True, but two weeks has been the rule for quite a long time now, barring a few exceptions. That's one reason why the Super Bowl is now taking place in February. It used to be held on the last Sunday in January, but it's been pushed back a week to allow the extra week off now that the regular season is starting a bit later than it used to.

If the World Series is played in Rain then the Super Bowl can be played in the Snow meaning if the New England or Pittsburgh is playing the Bears the game would be played at the Bears home! 2 weeks off is to much!
They need to get back to 8 teams back in NFL playoffs!

You know what I can't understand is why he has two names. That's the thing that really confuses me. And they've both been around for a while.
