Lahman Rating Changes

I'm in a bizarre fictional league that uses historical players www.seamheads.com. The league has existed since before OOTP 3 and has some quirks. Anyway, one thing we have noticed is that players import from Lahmans with slightly different ratings depending on what computer they're imported on. For instance Otto Velez from 1977 got imported on my computer with a 5 in hits and a 9 in walks and on the commissioner's computer with a 4 in hits and an 8 in walks. This is despite the fact we're importing from the same Lahman's file. I suppose my question is, are the players between ratings and their import arbitrarily rates somebody as 5 hits one time and 4 another or is it merely question of different scouting even with the scouts turned off?

Did either of you change the default settings?

We didn't change the default, but I've also seen this happen when you import the same player several times into the same league. I made an all 1976 Reds league to test fielding and saw some big swings in ratings.

Are you using coaches/scouts? It's probably not that they are importing differently. It's that after import, the scouts opinion of them varies each time you import them. Even on the same computer.

This happens with coaches and scouts on but it shouldn't with them off.

Try turning on the Editor to look at the hidden stats. Compare those.

Scouts affect this but even with scouts off, players do not import exactly the same even on the same computer. You can see this for yourself: Change your ratings to show 0-100, go to the league free agent screen, import the same player and year 10 times. You should see slight differences in ratings, e.g., 87, 89, 85, 86, 87.

its done on purpose. there is a built-in random factor. OOTP doesnt know names

try a search and im pretty sure you will find plenty of explanations.
