Not hard to do with Johnson.

I guess what I'm saying is that Kitna is no Palmer, but he could be the best backup QB in the league.

Kitna is among the classiest players in the league, and I hope he shines today and gets a new job somewhere else next year, as a starter.

That's the dumbest statement I've ever read. You know damn well the best back-up QB in this league plays out in San Francisco. That's right. I'm talking about Cody Pickett.

Oh, and Kitna is looking pretty good right now...

Brad Johnson is not a bad backup either!

He's a starter, baby! Culpepper isn't too bad for a back-up, though.

Hah, did that say Bettis has 4 rushes for 3 first downs and a TD...and like 8 yards?

ACL and done for the remainder of the playoffs (although if this holds up the latter part won't matter).

Huh. Totally bummed. Really thought Bengals were going to do it tonight. Sure, we could have won if Palmer had been on the field. But with some important plays aside, Kitna had a good game ... sort of.

I thought the key was the Steelers' awesome run defence. With the exception of Rudy's TD, I don't think there was a Bengals run of more than 3 yards. Steelers completely locked down the ground, forced Kitna to long 2nd and 3rd down plays, and it was inevitable that sooner or later we'd get scr*wed. Possibly even with Palmer.

Totally and utterly bummed.

In the first half, Johnson had runs of 1, 3, 0, 2, 2, 20, 1, 3, -2.

In the second half, the Bengals gave up on the run, and Johnson got the ball four times: 18, 4, 3, 1.

During the second half, the Steelers were, at times, rushing two and dropping nine into coverage. (Like on the goofy fumble Kitna had, for example). If the Bengals had at least tried to run the ball, Kitna wouldn't have been facing defenses with 7, 8, 9 dropped back in coverage.

That's right. Which is why, with the same plays, Palmer would probably have struggled as well. Sure, they shouldn't have given up on the run entirely, but it wasn't happening.

The Steelers have a good defense. The Bengals put up a respectable 17 points, so the loss is by no means all its fault.

btw, Palmer did tear his MCL as well. I was pretty sure from the MOI that he did that; wasn't sure about his ACL from seeing it so I didn't speculate.
