Having Problems, I need Help :-(

Hey guys. I am on my third season of OOTP4 and I love it. During that time I have had changes in my computer as my roommate has changed from Windows ME, to Windows XP and now back to Windows ME. After each change I had to re enter my order ID number in order to get the game running but everything worked out fine. This last time when my roommate put things back on Windows ME I got a Error 11 from the license area. I emailed viatech and they took care of it for me, however now when I go to open the game to get ready to play it the screen just goes black. I have went to graphics setup and toggled things between full screen mode and 3D but nothing has worked. The screen just goes black. I was told that I may be missing a driver. I downloaded Direct X from microsoft and that didn't help. My roommate looked over the computer and so did I and all the drivers have been updated and downloaded correctly. As I said it worked fine before on Windows ME and on Windows XP. When I try to start the game up it still goes to a black screen. I then tried something different I right clicked on the program and sent it to my desktop as a shortcut. I then clicked on the OOTP4 icon on my desktop and it started to> load and I could see everything, I thought my problems wwere solved but as
it was loading a "stop" message popped up. The title of the message was Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. The message read...... Application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Does this make any sense to anybody? Help Help Help!!! I am an OOTP addict and I want to get back to
leading my Red Sox to the title :-) Thanks alot

Mike

First make sure there have been no other recent Operating System related errors, like other programs not starting up. Next make sure you have the latest drivers for the PC's video card installed. You will likely have to reboot after installing the new video drivers. After that make double sure you have Direct X actually installed (sounds like you do).

If you have done all that, rebooted again, and you still get the startup error then you will need to unlicense OOTP4, uninstall it, and then then reinstall it & license it again. If it worked before on that PC using Win ME then there's no reason it can't work again - good luck!

If worse comes to worse and I have to unlicense it, do I then remove the program entirely, redownload it and then relicense it? Will I be charged again or do I just need to use my orignal order ID #? Will doing this also erase my franchise that I have started? Thanks for all your help. Bear with me...as you can tell I am not exactly a computer genious lol

Just click on the liscence button and enter your original order ID. You will NOT be charged again.

Zip up your current league and save it to a different directory. Also save the receipt.txt file from your OOTP4 directory. This should prevent you from losing anything important.

Hope this helps.

Ok guys. Thanks it worked. I unlicensed it, re downloaded it, relicensed it and there it is. Now here is the problem. I can't get my league to load. Before I got rid of everything I took my league folder and zipped it and sent it to another directory. I then unzipped it and put it in my C drive, C:\mdbl I then went to file on OOTP and hit restore league, I then typed in the path and it went through and said the league was restored yet......nothing changed. I could see the files from my league going into it and it appeared to work but there is no sign of my league even though it appeared to work. Can anyone help? Thanks

Why restore the database?

Why not just unzip the league folder into the OOTP directory?

That should have worked. Did you send the file to a folder with a .lg extension? If your league folder doesn't have the extension that may be the source of the problem.
