4 things I’d like to know.
I have 4 things that I would like to know.
1. Will there be women in the game? With all the leagues that can be running it would seem to me that there should be a few women playing. I have made many women leagues for several games so that my daughter and niece would have a league to play, and would like to add one to my OOTP world in this version. 2. How will player faces be handled? I have downloaded all that I could find, but would like to know if each country will have its own pictures file or will they all be in one file? 3. Will the old logos still show up in the new game? I love that I can change logos over the years in the game and still see the old ones in the almanac. 4. Will there be a way to set avg height and weight of players in a country? Thanks |

Well, I at least know that you will be able to use female names in your leagues. I'm certain they won't actually be included in the release, but here's what I would think you could do...
In the data folder of whatever country you want your league to be located in, you would simply back up the first names file and replace it (at least during league creation and subsequent player creation) with a first names file that contains only female names. I seriously doubt there is anyone who is actually creating a statistically accurate female name file, but if you have OOTP6, you could just grab the wnames.dat file out of the data folder and use it. (And even if you don't have V6, I'm sure someone would be happy to share the file with you.) Last edited by Muzamba; 12-31-2005 at 10:23 AM. |

2. I dont believe there will be an in-game random face generator with this version. Facegen is expensive enough for a single license, and I'd hate to see what the cost is for a retail game like this.
Besides, there's the space issue as well; in versions 6.x and before, I could see there being an argument that it's workable. However, when you have 10,000 players to assign pictures to, it becomes a major hit on most hard drives. 3. The logo sizes AND picture sizes are still the same, but only .jpg and .png are used (no more .bmp). I believe the naming convention may be different, however (I don't quite recall). 4. no clue

Thank you Muzamba & Dan Theman, for your time.
As for a women’s name file, I have one that I made with 1990 census info. I do not know if anyone has made a better one. My file has over 4,000 first names in it. Let me restate question 2. If I have 1,000 asian pictures, can I put them in as the only pictures players that come from Japan get, or will the players from Japan have the same picture as players from the US? And now for question 3. I was wanting to know if the logos will change in the almanac as they do now? If I have a team (Texas Wildcats) that played from 2006-2009, and then move them to Florida renaming them (Bulldogs) will I still be able to go back in the almanac and see the old Texas Wildcats logo from 2006-2009? Thanks again for your response to my questions. |

The problem with female names is this:
You could easily put female names into the names file. However, some news articles and such will still refer to "he". ("He slammed 3 homers.") Just my 2 cents. |

Markus would have to add a hips measurement and possibly a bust column.

Didn't someone have a dynasty with female celebrities as the players at some point?

There use to be an old Nintendo game called Baseball Stars that had all-female team playing men. They were not the best team to have a pre-start team, but when your team played them, you got a nice size of cash.

Yah they wore pink skirts and threw underhand. I loved that game. Wasn't there a team full of "monsters" too?
