Customization in OOTPBM2006 and its effects on WWSM and NHLEHM

Methinks that once some of Hardcore football manager and NHLEHM players see all of the customization options available in OOTPBM2006, there will be lots of pressure put on SI to do the same for those games

It's going to take a while to get the other games "customizeable" in the same sense of OOTPBM 2006 to be honest.

In the short term, the other games will take other elements of OOTPBM that are favoured - in the long term we want to do more on the customization side of things but the other games are structured differently.

It's a long but interesting road.

Who cares about soccer, hockey OR basketball?

Silly run/skate back and forth games.

I'm not basketball fan at all, but I have to say Grey Dog's new college basketball game look to be a solid release on the horizon.

The demo looks/plays very well.

It looks amazing. But I am not a fan of basketball, so I'll probably just be checking out the demo. The screenshots look like it skipped OOTP1-5 and went right to OOTP6.

What happened to our Sarcasm Alerts?

We should definitely have someone in charge of making sure they are fully operational and charged.

I bought EHM2005 after trying it, to see what it was like and to see what type of thing OOTPBM would be like and was very impressed with it. If that game gets customizable features similar to OOTP, I will be very happy. I think SI should find someone to make a basketball and American football game, if you can do it for baseball, football and hockey, why not those sports

FM crowd does not care about customization.
They might have an interest in historical leagues. But they have none at all in fictional players or fictional leagues.

That's probably the case. But then, the fictional options available to them have always been quite limited, so it shouldn't be all that surprising then that fictional leagues don't hold much interest. Plus the number of clubs in football over there is huge, so it's not like one would likely need to create a fictional league to cover the small town they live in.

I tried EHM and it seemed more like a job instead of playing. I didn't want to do the day to day practices etc and didn't seem to have a choice.. I hope that OOTPBM 2006 doesn't end up in that catagory. all the nation stuff is fine and dandy if you are into that kind of thing, but I usually play with scouts off and as a gm and manager. I sure don't want to have to assign practice times, and hockey and soccer type goings on in my baseball game.. Just my 3 cents worth..

It's funny, the number of posters on the FM boards that say, "Who cares about baseball? SI needs to get FM right first, not be bothering about such worthless things."

I always point out that OOTP is pretty much a one-man show, and that Marcus' efforts are not detracting from their beloved game. I then point out that, until I played FM, I could have cared less about soccer/football. Now, I'm a fan ... maybe OOTP can have the same effect on their side of the pond.

edit: I still find it hard to watch a whole match on TV, though ...

I don't entirely agree with that comment. Many in the FM crowd play their universe for many seasons. In 5-10 years most of the real players have retired and they are replaced by fictional youngsters. Also some FM players pick to play obscure teams in leagues from the far corners of the world, so they may as well be fictional anyway. FM does have an option to start with fictional players, although I don't think this is widely used. FM does not have the option of creating fictional leagues. However, there are so many real leagues available with different rules and formats, your bound to find one that suits your tastes.
