Making league files smaller?

Is there a utility out there that can simplify league files? One of my leagues has been going for 35 years, saving all box scores. The Almanac file alone is nearly 2.5GB and and accounts for nearly 1/3 of my computer's overall "files"

I really don't think I need to go back and see box scores from 2005, but I don't want to eliminate any records and player data. Is there something out there that can get rid of the clutter?

Here's what I do at a season's end:

I make a copy of the .lg folder and rename it to the next season. I then can delete all the old boxscores, etc. and start basically clean.
