Use the real names of the baseball fields in the cities listed in the league.

Ask for help in getting these names.

Birmingham has the oldest existing minor league stadium...it is no longer used for professional games...mostly high school games now. It was used to make the movie "Cobb" about Ty Cobb.

Rickwood Field is its name.

The current team plays at Hoover Park.

In Memphis the old Southern Association team, the Chicks or Chickasaws (an Indian tribe) played at Russwood Park.
The current team plays at Auto Zone Stadium...Auto Zone is an auto parts company that bought the rights to the name of the stadium.

As far as your other teams: Name them after the team owner...or City Park...Municipal Stadium...Memorial Park...Memorial Field...State Memorial Park...City Memorial Field...Metropolitan Park...name them after a famous politician in the city...name them after the team's nickname like Explorer Park...Buckeye Field...Colonial Stadium...name for stadium location, such as Riverview Park...Lakefront Stadium...Downtown Field...County Stadium.

Hope this gives you a start and some ideas.

Markmeister made an Excel spreadsheet a while back that generates fictional names.

Here is the original thread:

Another thought on picking stadium names.

When I set up a fictional league, I think it is wise to pick your stadiums first. Then select a city or town name based on the the stadium view of the area surrounding the stadium. And based on the stadium name and the town name, choose an appropriate nickname that would be related to the town's geography. history, culture, commerce or industy...and sometimes just because you like the nickname, too.

For example, a stadium that has a beautiful view of the mountains in the background would be called Mountain View Park...then the city name would be Upland...and the team nickname would be Mountaineers.

For a stadium with a view of the agricultural landscape, name it Heartland Field. The town would be called Belle Plaine (Beautiful Plain) and known for growing grains...and the team nickname is Musketeers (the town was settled by the French). A musketeer was a member of the King's elite guard...not only a fine swordsman, but a splendid marksman with a musket as well.

For a stadium with a view of red bluffs and hills, name it Red Bluff Stadium. Of course, the town would be Red Bluff...and for no special reason except it would go good with Red Bluff...the team would be the Red Sox.

For a stadium with a view of a harbor, it would be called Bayview Park and the town Belair Beach...nickname is Sunbirds because it a tourist resort.

This system has worked well for me.

Collect all of Teflon Skies', Henry/BigCity's and blueturf's wonderful stadiums. DreamTeams has some fine stadiums, too. All of these are great to start a league.

Ok. Gave it a try. I placed the park names next to the team names above.
