Wild Pitch Baseball League Needs an Owner
The WPBL started in 2005 using Halofan's roster set.
Sims are on Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:45pm EST and Sunday nights at 9:45 pm EST. Many things are pretty standard (Please read the RULES), but there are a few features that sets the league apart: Venezuelan Winter League (VWL): A yearly player edit for guys 27 and under to make them mirror more closely the real MLB player. This player edit is done by a committee of owners. Ex. If Nick Swisher sucked in the roster set, he could be sent to the VWL. This ensures that potential MLB stars of tomorrow have the same shot in OOTP and also ensures that the league remains as true-to-life as possible. It adds strategy and gets owners more involved in the real minor leagues to scour the talent. The VWL invite is tradeable. We are NOT getting fictional. We have real MLB draftees beyond 2005: I took the 2005 MLB draft and divided it into 3 even groups so that 2006, 2007 and 2008 would have real draftees (manually edited in). The best 40-60 prospects in these drafts were real. The 2009 draft consisted of the best MLB prospects not in the game and some real foreign entries. Now in 2010 (and in 2011 and 2012) we are using the real MLB 2006 draft class as our pool from which to add players. Ability to eat contracts: You can pay a portion of a player's salary in a trade without transferring cash. A player is added called "PlayerName Salary" in the amount that you are eating. A team that agrees to pay some of his former player's contract can pay the contract off in one shot if he can afford it. Please see the rules for guidelines on this. Other features are:
Also, player pics on the main page will always have their WPBL uniforms and caps. EX on the main page, SD's Joe Mauer in real life is on the Twins. My avatar as most of you know is WPBL's Edgar Renteria, who definitely is not on the Pirates in real life! Thanks for reading up to this point. If interested, please post in the Message Board in the Waiting List section. Any questions? Catch me on AIM: Link under avatar. Thanks. Last edited by Tito; 08-24-2006 at 03:12 PM. |

The WPBL is a great league with an active group of owners.
Tito and Jeff do an oustanding job commishing the league, and the VWL and introduction of real draft picks are helping to keep the file more closely along with real MLB, which most leagues begin to deviate from as the OOTP seasons go by. I've been in numerous OOTP leagues, and I can safely say that this one is at the top of the class. The DBacks will be a challenege to whoever takes them, but there is a lot of pitching talent there with which to work as well as some good prospects. Hope to see you in the league Marlins GM Last edited by redbeard82; 12-09-2005 at 04:53 PM. |

Thanks, guys. I think one of the best things I like is that there are always at least 10 guys on AIM at any time of the day.
Another thing, real players not in the game are added in the off-season. Last year it was Kendry Morales, this year it's that catcher from Japan that signed with the Mariners, Kenji Jojima. We may have an opening in San Francisco also. Will keep you posted. Check them out too just in case. Last edited by Tito; 12-09-2005 at 05:08 PM. |

Good luck. Art |

This league is a very active league and sims are always on time with html and files up in a timely manner.
Tito and I are always available to answer any league related questions and the forum is always active. Teams open right now are the D'Backs and the Giants. The 2007 Ammy draft is tomorrow and SF holds the big #1 pick in the draft. So jump on in now and take a shot to pick the core player of the future for the Giants. Arizona has the #12 pick in the draft, so again not a bad selection. Just a note that sim times for Tuesday/Thursdays will be changed to 8:00pm est starting on the 20th of December and all sims are done live via AIM.

We are in the 2007 playoffs and are recruiting for the following two teams:
New York Yankees Arizona Diamondbacks Please read initial post from a couple of months ago. If interested, please post in the forum. PS Even if not interested, check out the pics on the main page: Sabathia as a Yankee, Edmonds as a Ranger, etc. Last edited by Tito; 02-13-2006 at 11:35 PM. |

The DBacks are gone. The Evil Empire is still available.
The Minnesota Twins, a major powerhouse currently in the playoffs, may become available. This is the Commish's team, and he is thinking of taking over billycola's (RIP) Anaheim Angels. Either the Twins or the Angels will become available. |

Ulrichsson has been hired!
We have an opening for Seattle. They have good young players like Stephen Drew, Huston Street, Jeremy Sowers, and Felix Hernandez. They will have the 5th pick in the 2010 draft which will consist of MLB 2006 draftees. The new owner will be able to send a player to the Venezuelan Winter League and will be given the opportunity to buy out part of Jesus Flores' $18 mil/year contract. Post in the message board if interested! |

This is by far the best league i have ever been in. The owners are active and great to work with. The commishes put a lot of time in to the league and are always open to suggestions.
