Are These Features Being Implemented?

I know these two things have long been on the wish lists of several of these board members... just wondering if they are going to be implemented for 2006.

1. HALL OF FAME TEAM: Have the CPU determine which team the HOF player goes into the hall with.

2. No Trade Clauses: Implemented into contracts or just a standard 5/10 rule.

Just wondering, Thanks!

The 10/5 rule would certainly be a nice addition. Gives extra meaning to 'willing to play for a winning team' as well. Maybe he only allows trades to clubs above .500/within X-amount of games of the division/wild card.

1) don't know but it would be cool

2) yes, at least as an optional contract clause

Which reminds me -- option years would be nice to have. Even if they were just basic (i.e. club options only, no vesting options), it would be a good step forward.

No team HoF

But 5/10 rule, no trade clauses, option years, and incentives (bonus for X PA for example)

This is good news. I think what is included far out weighs the HoF team. However, retired numbers for a team on a promotional day would be good in the future.

How hard would it be to include a logo on the HOF plaque? (not being sarcastic!) Maybe just have the computer see where the majority of the stats were accrued by the player and then assign the logo.

With the 5/10 and no trade clauses - Will players ever be willing to waive them? Or would they simply not be allowed to be traded.

Also if they refused to waive a no trade clause, could you threaten to cut back on their playing time to offer an incentive for them to leave?

Will trade offers be able to be completed, only to have the player refuse to waive thier no trade clause?

Will there be limited no trade clauses where a player can pick, say, five teams not to be traded to?

This is all I can think of for now. Game looks better every day.

All the best,
Jerry

I would think it would be easier for the user to determine the team he is inducted with rather than creating an algorithm for the AI to do it.

How about the arbitration deadline of dec. 8th and unable to negotiate if not offered arbitration until May 1st???

Would like to know this also. And anything about vesting options. And anything about arbitration...come to think of it, anything about anything is fine

How will a player choose which contract he likes better?

Let's say the computer offers him $15 million for 3 years; I offer him a 3-year contract worth $12 million in base salary with incentives that could push it to $18 million. Which one would he take?

I'm ecstatic to hear that NTCs will be included. This was the single most important remaining feature for me.

However, I also want to know if there will be limited or partial NTCs. I suggested some time ago the idea of having a Limited NTC, with which a player would be able to pick 5 teams (depending on the league size) to which he would NOT accept a trade. Conversely, a Partial NTC would mean a player could pick 5 or so teams to which he WOULD accept a trade to.

These teams would be determined using the same formula that dictates which teams a player is most and least interested in as a free agent.

I also agree that players should waive their NTCs or switch from a Full NTC or 5/10 NTC to a Partial NTC (or go from a Prtl. to a Ltd.) if, for instance, their team is struggling or they are receiving less playing time.

Also, there's one other existing MLB rule that should be included in this area. A team can't trade a player they signed as a free agent in the offseason until, I believe, either May 1st or June 1st. This may not seem like a big deal, but it prevents teams from doing a kind of "sign and trade" with players. (Then again, this should be optional, like all other rules, as some might want to use this as a workaround on occasion.)

And one more quick suggestion, if this hasn't been addressed yet. Could you make sure that on the Player Trade screen, when you click "Add Player", that any player who has a NTC that prevents him from being traded to your team has some kind of obvious symbol or color highlighting that indicates this? This would be much easier than adding him and realizing after submitting the proposal that he isn't available to you. Thanks

That was a joke, right? I always hated them, and the only reason why promotion days were part of the game is that Infogrames asked me to add it for Season Ticket Baseball

I thought you saying that promo's were scratched was a joke! Seriously though, promo days are a great tool for losing teams to try and maintain some of their fan interest while they rebuild. They should stay.

I agree. If anything, I'd like to see more front office functions make it into the game eventually. I realize we probably won't see things like stadium construction, naming rights, advanced broadcasting rights, etc. until a later version, but I don't think Promo Days should be nixed altogether. The only changes I would make there would be to add another 15 or so optional promotions.

More importantly, I always hate to see any feature disappear from the game, especially if it isn't really hurting anything. It makes me worry that while there are all these many new wonderful things being added, there might be some nifty little incidental that's getting trashed that I won't even know about until the game's released and it's too late to save it.

So consider this a second signature on the petition to "Save the Promo Days"
