WrightWing's Historical Facepack--Help
I am still hard at work on my facepack(s). I am close to 7000 images and want to release an update by the end of December, but I have a potential problem.
The sheer size has grown to about 240MB unzipped. I think zipping will only reduce it by about 50% if I remember correctly. I don't have any way to host it and I'm not sure what that size of a file would do to someone's bandwidth charges for hosting it and having people download it. I enjoy working on this and will continue to do so. I'm looking for ideas and/or solutions to the size/hosting problem I see. Thanks in advance for your time... |

I don't believe zip compression reduces the size of photos by much as they are already compressed images. It would probably be best to break up the file by year or decade of debut.

Another question. I want to make sure the names in my facepack match the names in the database that people use. What is that database and where can I get it?
Thanks in advance... |

I think all of use the Lahman format as the naming convention. You can DL any of the files on my site but the regular Lahman Master.csv file for names is fine.
OOTP needs the files in this format (Lahman): LLLLLFF## 5 letters of last name 2 letters first name ## The ## is usually 01 unless another player shares the same 5&2 letters Here are some examples: aaronha01 Hank Aaron aaronha02 Harold Aaron aaronto01 Tommie Aaron aasedo01 Don Aase abbated01 Ed Abbaticchio abbotfr01 Fred Abbott abbotgl01 Glenn Abbott In your earlier pack, many of the names were correct, but you had some reversed (firstlast). |
