On Screen Defense

Are we going to be able to see on screen the defensive configuration? Obviously in real baseball, hitters and managers can see where the defense is placed therefore allowing them to make a more education decision. This includes the first baseman being on top of the runner looking for the pickoff. Does this make sense? I guess I am hoping that the name-plates for each player will move accordingly and park settings will affect the new positions.

I don't think the game uses individual positioning to determine anything. Maybe I'm wrong, though. Anyway, doesn't it already tell you if the infield/outfield is playing in or deep?

Not if you are the offense it does not tell you. You have to be the defense in order to see how things are placed. For example I might want to see if the infield is playing in or deep if I want to make a bunt. You can't see that just from the on screen elements currently in the game, either text or the players themselves. It would be nice if there were some type of indicator of how the defense is positioned. The actual on screen elements mean nothing as far as game play is concerned, it would just be for the player to see what is going on. I hope this makes sense.

It would be nice if the little text boxes with the player's names and ratings would move in and out on the field to represent if they were playing in, deep, or regular.

This is actually the short version of my long winded suggestion. This is exactly what I am hoping for the game to do.

not correct. it says "normal", "guard lines", "infield in", even when you are on offense.

dh and RonCo are correct, the game does show these settings in the field. However, I am uncertain -- because I have never changed them -- if one alters what the AI is responsible for in the game setup this might also have an effect on what is visible.

I believe the defensive positioning is always visible.

It's on the right where your options are presented. Right above that, IIRC, it will say Normal, or Corners In, etc.... when you are at bat.
