What Rating System Do You Use?

I know in OOTP you can set the rating scale. I have been using the 1-10 scale. I am wondering if I should turn them off or even switch to the 1-5 scale.

I'm thinking of making the change because I'm concerned my evaluation of players is too much based on rating and not enough on actual stats. Like in the major league, managers pretty much must just look at stats. Yet, there are scouts, etc. that can give you an "idea" of a player's ability, so I'm still considering having the ratings at 1-5.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Lookin just at stats might make player evaluation more difficult, yet this could be more realistic.

Lots of people and leagues do just what you suggest - turn off ratings, and just leave talent on. Then they base their decisions on stats only.

I play solo with both turned on, but I'm thinking of turning off ratings, because you're right, you tend to rely on them too heavily.

No ratings, no talent, no stars, secondary ratings on 1-5 scale. Scouting reports and stats are all you need.

I use 1-100 and do not display over 100. I do however check new players to make sure that they are not over 100 in POWER, which has not happenend since I change the power modifier to -10%.

In a new online league I am in, they use 1-10, so it will be something new for me.

I like 1-100 with over 100 ratings so no person can be limited.

I think 1-100 makes the game too easy. I prefer 1-10 on ratings and 2-8 on talent if ratings are going to be on.

I use 1-100 on overall and 1-10 on talent. If you want a really tough challenge, just do talent and no ratings for everthing else but Speed/Endurance.

I use that as well- it's just the most fun and challenging in solo mode. I wish there would be more online leagues which would use these rating scales .

That's how I play (I assume that "secondary ratings" = OOTP6's "other ratings.") Also be sure and set the evaluation to stats only.

IMO it makes for a much harder, better, and more realistic game. Your mileage may vary.

We use 1-10 ratings since it most closely mirrors prior OOTP versions.

ratings off, talents 1-5, other ratings 1-5.

Much more fun to play in solo with these settings...you rely on stats rather than "current ratings" when making decisions.

You should check out this league. Its stars only, so owners can at least sort players in the ammy draft: http://soosimbl.ootp-online.com. There are some openings now, I think, including Giants, Pirates, Brewers, Orioles, Diamondbacks

I do 1-10 most of the time, with secondary ratings at 1-5. I would go with talent only more often, but that requires more attention to detail and slower simming, whereas I like to go faster. It's not always about challenge. Sometimes I just don't have the time.

I don't like the idea of going without talent, simply because I find it somewhat unrealistic. You always have some idea from scouts regarding what a guy's potential is. I went for a while without star ratings, but I've turned them back on because they're a nice at-a-glance kind of thing.

I use 1-100 (no show over 100) for ratings, 2-8 for talent, and 1-5 for secondary ratings. I mostly use stats and talent rating for projecting players and offering contracts and extensions. The ratings are just on a little for filler that I've gotten comfortable with using past versions, I've tried playing a while with them off and it seems like something was just missing

I play with 1-10 across the board. I kinda see the ratings as what a player should produce, and then I like to see if there are guys who consistently underperform or overperform according to their ratings. I like to see if a rotation full of highly rated pitchers will live up to their billing... sort of an "are they as good as they are on paper" kind of an ideal.

No ratings. 2-8 for talents and 1-5 for secondaries. Am in my 8th solo season and still enjoying it.
