Alma Mater League Openings
there is a good possiblilty we are going to have some openings going into our 2nd season, how many im not sure, but this would be a good time for anyone to try to get into the league.
this is a college based league with fictional players, 32 total teams in the league. we have no ootp run playoffs, instead a custom run College World Series tournament, in which we are actually running the 1st ever right now. all players range between 17 and 23. at 23 years of age at the end of the season, the players "graduate." in other words, they are forced to retire. although you will see that ratings are low for most of the players right now, as time goes on, and we have already noticed this with development modifiers up at 200%, ratings are starting to go up, given that you actually give some of the younger guys some "minor league" time. no finances here, no FA signings, no cuts, no waivers, and no trades. this league is very dependant on your roster management skills, as you have to do everything with what you have. a good league for newbies, and also an interesting league for vets to really test your skills i think. if your interested, visit www.almamaterleague.com and fill out an application. chances are i will be allowing new owners the chance to rename the team they take over, but we will deal with that once we get to that hurdle. Thanks.

I'd be interested to see how the league developes. I'd like to get my hands on the league file if the player developement works properly. Are you able to systematically "retire" the ballplayers, or do you do it manually?

i have to retire players manually unfortunately, but it goes by pretty quick for me assuming i give myself the time to sit and do it with no distractions.
as for development, from my own personal experience after a season, the players i kept in the minor league levels developed a lot faster than the ones that were playing at the ML level. if youre patient, it will pan out with the younger 17-19 year old players. i had a 22 yr old 5 star stud that actually just turned 23 so he will be retired sadly, but his ratings jumped way up to the 60s on the 100 scale after 2 months, and i was able to use him the rest of the season. so it can happen if you give them a chance.

i have 2 confirmed openings right now, as we prepare to flip to next season this evening. we'll have a small live portion of the draft, and then the new season will start up rather quickly, so dont delay in trying to get a team while you have the chance!
