RCMB Historic League needs GMs
The Ray Chapman Memorial Baseball Association (RCMB) is just completing its first season and is ready to accept new GMs. The league was originally set in 1977, but included the players of both 1937 and 1977. The upcoming Rookie Draft will include debuting players of 1938 and 1978, and that is how the league will continue each season. This unique way of blending old time players with more current players offers that opportunity without creating superstar rosters.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com ffice ffice" /><o ></o >In its first season, RCMB allowed GMs to manage a team in each of the two leagues. Thus, we began with 8 GMs running 16 teams. We would like to find enough GMs to get everyone down to one team if possible. All of the teams were built from scratch, so the teams do not carry any association with particular players, but these teams are available: <o ></o >New York Mets / San Francisco Giants / Chicago Cubs / Minnesota Twins / Baltimore Orioles / Montreal Expos / Houston Astros / and either the Angels or Dodgers but I don’t know which off hand. <o ></o >Simulations are done on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings, each approximately 10 days (a month is completed in each week). <o ></o >We have a mix of GMs as far as OOTP experience is concerned, but all are mature (I think our median age is in the 40s somewhere). This does not mean that we discriminate against youth (we are just jealous), but you should know that there is not a lot of youthful slang understood in the league! After a very intense league building period, the season has been very quiet as everyone was busy with two teams and there was no trade activity since each GM had personally chosen each of his/her players. That should change if we can fill the league and each focus on a single team. <o ></o >Alt<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com ffice:smarttags" /><st1:PersonName w:st="on">hough</st1:PersonName> I have been playing OOTP since ver. 5, this is my first league as Commissioner, so I have not been perfect, but I am completely open to any suggestions or guidance. RCMB uses ALL of the capabilities of OOTP including Coaches/Scouts, Finances, Rule 5, Minor League FA/s etc. This is another very unique aspect of the league and has been a learning experience (continuing). <o ></o >If you are interested, you can see our new site at http://www.40yl.com/ <o ></o >Please email me at arlo8z@sbcglobal.net to discuss joining the league. <o ></o >NOTE: Don’t be put off by my low posting number – my OOTP account was lost in a computer glitch and I had to rejoin yesterday! I’m no expert but I’m not a rookie. |

Just bumpin' this up. Not even a nibble so far. Somebody tell me where I'm going wrong. It's a great set yp and an opportunity to use all of the parts of OOTP that so many other leagues skip.

i think it is all about timing. Nothing you are doing wrong. I feel your pain in trying to get owners. Just keep at it

This is mostly a bump, but I don't get it. I see these leagues come on for a day and pick up 3 or 4 GMs and then lose a couple at the same time and fill those too. Why are these totally unstable leagues so popular?? Is it because nobdoy really wants to be committed so they look for leagues that they won't feel bad ditching??? Anybody out there want to play ball instead of bull****ting on the boards??? Let me know . . .
