Let me also go on record in saying that I hope it isn't a White Sox player. That would be the last thing that baseball needs right now.

I hope it is... anything to lessen the chances of the Sox re-signing him.

I'm going to laugh at whoever gives him a 4-year, $50 million deal. Laugh laugh laugh. Like a freaking hyena. I assume you will, too, unless the Red Sox are the team that does that.

Yep... I'll either be laughing... or impaling myself on the first sharp object I come across.

Not gonna lie... this would crush me.

I think the effects of steroid use is overblown, but I don't condone it. If my favorite player in the league not named Pedro was using them, I'd be very sad.

That might sound a lot, but not that big a deal for the Yankees, and would be a great bargain comparing to Bernie Williams in the past few years.

Carl Everett is also a possibility? He can also be considered an outfielder. Tony Womack? Matt Lawton? Ruben Sierra? Juan Rivera? Chone Figgins?

It'll be almost exactly the Bernie deal in the last year (or two) of the contract. An old, not-so-productive center fielder who couldn't throw out anybody's grandma.

So, where are all the comments saying 'roids are fine if a player wants to try and get every advantage they can? Or are people waiting to see who it is first before knowing if they should be slamming/defending them(!?)

If it's true, whoever it is, then it's just plain wrong and no argument will convince me otherwise. Using any drug to try and improve your performance (even if it isn't garanteed to work) is cheating. I don't care how you put it, it is still cheating.

The "cough once for White Sox..." made me chuckle though.

You mean the comments that steroids were fine before MLB banned it comments.

Or you mean the steroids aren't that big a deal comparing to gambling comments.

Or you mean steroids probably don't really help much comments.

What do you want? All those aren't really related to this topic at hand, since:

1. It happened after MLB banned it.
2. It's not yet another gambling vs. steroids debate.
3. We don't even know who it is, so why bother debating if steroids helped.

Carl did have the roid rage during one game, yelling at the Astros dugout.

You missed the point of every debate between people on this board regarding steroids if that's what you gleaned from reading them.

The closest thing I can think of to what you're saying is that between cheating to win/lose... cheating to win is the much lesser of two evils. However, that's honestly NOWHERE near what you stated.

I wasn't talking about any debates. I just never liked some individuals saying what I had posted. I would quote if it wasn't for the Great Crash of '05 but I was just annoyed by it.

Firstly, this only a game after all, I just think sports should be about the better man/woman/team/monkey rodeo entrant winning on an even field. A cheat is a cheat. I really don't care what the aim is, wether it is to gain a lone athlete tying to gain an unfair advantage, cripple an opponent or throw a single game, it's all bad in my eyes and the world is sh**e enough without it affecting things I take pleasure in watching and talking about. They are after paid to entertain me

I do have to apologise for probably not saying what I even meant to in this thread, not to make excuses but with my illness it can be very difficult to take part in any discussions, no matter how much info I have in my head - it just won't...come...out! So apologies if I sounded a twat, I'll just sit in the corner and arse about in OT while enjoying what everyone has to say in these parts

Carry on

If that's what that was then Carl Everett has been on steroids his entire career.

Hmm... if they didn't say a player/roids, then I might be inclined to think that some of the umpiring crew tested positive for crack...
