Well, if I base it on most of the ones I know, not very much.

I'm sorry...those two teams seem to be the class of college football right now. Who are you planning to run up there? Va Tech?

I don't know if you can put Tech in front of USC, but they're pretty good.

I don't disagree they're pretty good...I'd even say great...but they're just not on the level of USC. I can't see taking the team that's the defending national champs two years running and saying they're not #1 when they haven't lost.

it's ok that we have different philosophies about this. i'm basing this on how they've played this season.

barely beating a team that lost to michigan state doesn't cut it unless that was the only or one of few times this season that they've "played down to the level of their opponents."

championship caliber teams must play like championship caliber teams. in my opinion, virginia tech has played much more like a championship team this season.

I think I'm going to have to rank at least Texas above USC. USC has just had too many squeakers this year. They remind me of that Ohio State championship team that kept winning games by last-second field goals and referees' blown calls. I wouldn't have ranked that Ohio State team #1 even after they beat Miami in the national championship.

That's why you aren't apart of the AP.

Gibson swings, and a fly ball to deep right field! This is gonna be a home run! Unbelievable! A home run for Gibson! And the Dodgers have won the game, 5 to 4; I don't believe what I just saw! I don't believe what I just saw!

Homer.

Coming from somebody that watched every Ohio State game in 2002 (actually, pretty much all of them in the past 15 years), the bad calls that the Buckeyes got called against them pretty much evened out by the end of the year, as these things usually do. The call in the first OT in the Fiesta Bowl wasn't very good, I will admit that. But with 2:18 left in the game with the Buckeyes leading 17-14, Miami's #22 (Jennings) grabbed ahold of Chris Gamble's jersey not once, but twice during his route. No flag was thrown. That should have been defensive holding and an automatic first down which would have allowed the Buckeyes to run even more time off the clock. So the non call and the call evened themselves out.

Well, maybe you're right. My memory of the game is now foggy. I just remember being somewhat outraged at the time.
