6.5a Error Scoring Bug

I just had a situation, with no runners on, and less then two outs, where the hitter popped foul, and then the fielder dropped the ball. This was scored an error, but it should have just been scored a foul ball, and a strike (if less then two strikes). The batter cannot take his base, therefore there is no error. An error can only be scored if a runner (or batter) is able to take a base. There was another error scored in my game, in which a hitter was safe at first on a wide throw. The game gave him a one base hit, and an error, putting him on second. That IS a correct score. The previous situation is not. In no way can an E be scored if the batter is unable to take an additional base. I am not sure if this has been logged, but it was something I saw.

Actually an error may (and assuming a routine play, should) be scored in the situation you describe with a dropped foul ball.
