i been away from this forum lately and the game. and with database lost, just curious if anyone that been testing the beta 6.5b patch found those bugs fix in the 6.5b readme listed above has been really fix? if not, it might be a good idea to post it here too beside finding any other bugs too on 6.5b that has not been fix. |

Edit: Missed the earlier responses. Mine wasn't necessary. But been down this road before. Unfortunately, count me among the condescending. Apologies.

In the top of the 7th of an away game I pinch hit for my pitcher. At the bottom of the inning he appeared as out of the game on the lineup cards but was still out on the mound, and was able to pitch the bottom of the inning. It wasn't until the bottom of the 8th inning that the game recognized he should no longer be able to pitch, and forced me to bring in a reliever.

Please just go away. You are a pompous, arrogant ass that obviously has issues. Isn't FOFC enough of an outlet for you to lord over people and vent your frustrations? Edit-I don't see any reason why it is considered wrong to "ask" for a list of what the developer believes is fixed. Matter of fact, it only makes sense. Shaun Sullivan has done public betas with his game many times in the past. He doesn't just send out a new version and say "here you go...i've fixed 50 bugs...see if you can find them." He lists what he believes is fixed and wants people to verify. I.E. If he hasn't touched the "bad player bug", why should 100 people waste time looking for it when a quick list would let you know not to bother. If Markus absolutely has no idea what is fixed due to the problems he had, that is fine. But to chastise someone just for asking is sad. Last edited by markprior22; 10-02-2005 at 08:31 PM. |

Perhaps the correct response would have been to link the announcement:
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/article.php?newsid=385 which lists the alleged fixes line by line and which should be the focus of verification. Having said that, let's return to the process of checking those things out and noting any new anomalies instead of becoming locked in unnecessary debate about protocol. It's pretty clear how some of us feel about one another and our approach to matters of various import. What needs to be clear now is that we all share a burden of inquiry into this patch to make sure that the last effort for this version is the most we can also share in allowing it to become. I've made my apology for my uncharacteristic abruptness. Now I'm making my more than characteristic plea for a consensus of aim and direction. Appreciate all of the efforts all of you expend, and will expend, in ensuring the game becomes a better, even more reliabe one.

Hear, hear, endgame. Linkage would have been the better approach and wouldn't have soured this thread from the beginning.

If not, my apologies. But hell, SkyDog's done plenty of OOTP as well, you know, with his settings tweaks and all that. |

Apologies if I've missed this, but is there any way to install 6.5b in a separate directory and not hose up anything? I'd like to help beta, but I just have the one PC, and I'm in the middle of a season in an active league, and don't want to blow that up.
I'm mostly interested in figuring out if the draft pick bug was resolved. (The one where solo league draft pick trades result in those picks staying traded permanently.) |

Retirement Issues and Comebacks
I'm reviewing game-by-game play so obviously I won't find out. Has anyone simmed along far enough with 6.5b to know if retirees -- mid-season or not -- are still being dumped to the FA pool and if they are, are they still being signed by new teams rather than staying retired (if their ratings merit the interest)?
Second to that, if the option for comeback is turned OFF, there were still retirees during midseason that resigned with other teams (not technically a comeback I suppose). Any notice that this is still occuring, or does everyone play with it on? I know Elendil has it turned off, but don't know if he's simming seasons or not. This one's a potential big burr in the butt and I don't want to lose track of it for either option on or off. Thanks in advance.

The Very Smallest of Things : Player Tracker Deletions
It isn't new to 6.5b, but still exists there:
When right-clicking on a player in the Player Tracker, it invariably deletes more than the single player you've selected. I'll say it for those of you who might: If this would take ANY substantial amount of time away from fixing the real issues of import, then screw it. We'll live with it and just take better notes.

AI Judgments - Bullpen
While there may be improvements overall duly noted in other posts since 6.5, here's an instance still hard to justify: (at least in my mind)
My team, the Stones, at bat top of the 7th ahead by two runs and one out, no one on. The first out came retiring my ninth hitter (DH league). The left-handed starter is relieved by another lefty to face my right-handed lead-off man. Now in and of itself, all right. Maybe the manager isn't set to favor matchups. The part that baffles me a bit is why this choice when it's a reliever who, the day before this one threw 44 pitches and has and Endurance of 25/100. One of the other relievers available, not the closer, was a 4-1/2 star (gold) right hander who hadn't thrown a pitch in five days. Maybe it's not way outta whack, but it's one of those marginal enough situations that seems to err on the side of "what's with the bullpen AI?" Just my thoughts. Not assuming for a minute there's a reasonable panacea for this enduring, somewhat puzzling, aspect of the game. Only commenting on an observation during this testing process. Edit: To his credit, both the reliever's and the manager's, two up two down groundballers and ended the top of the 7th. Results are everything I guess. Edit#2: Maybe it's all a big nevermind. I don't know. The AI did bring in the better reliever in the 8th. Bottom of the 8th my setup man gives up 2 HRs allowing the game to tie. Both teams go to closers and his gives up a 3 run homer, mine gives up a solo and..... well, what did it all matter anyway, eh? Still.....got my eye on the pen. Always room for improvement there. Apologies for the little derail there, I'll try to refrain unless I spot something more obvious or have verified something else works. Sigh. The game gets ya worked up sometimes, you know? Edit #3: Sorry. Just had to say, see what I know?! Nothing. The 4-1/2 star I'd wondered about actually got the loss facing 6 batters and allowing 1 of the 2 inherited to score. Thought this was an interesting box score note to top off my momentary assessment folly: Ike Mann reaches a career high 5 consecutive losses. <TABLE class=overall><TBODY><TR><TD class=empty></TD></TR><TR class=g><TD class=empty></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Hitting Streak
From a player's history file:
Had 23-game hitting streak snapped on 5/12/2004... Had 24-game hitting streak snapped on 5/13/2004... I'm not quite sure why that assessment was made. Don't recall seeing that in a previous version, but maybe. I'm just posting what I find. If it's irrelevant, then disregard it. But sometimes one thing leads to another. Now I notice that this is 2004, last year's season. I put in 6.5b as 2005 began so it's likely not related at all to the beta. I'll mention it nonetheless.

A quick comment before a question about a bug. I think people have been quite rude to SkyDog after all he is done with coming up w/tweaks for the modifications and so on. To ask him to go away was totally uncalled for, Nobody is forcing anyone to read any posts they dont' want to, especially to someone who many appreciate the work he has put into the forum.
THE BUG Someone told me there is a bug if you release a player in the last year of their contract, the money is not charged to you when you release them. Has anyone heard of that?
