5 in a row! Nice! (Now that that's said, prepare for a nice 5 game losing streak. Your welcome.)

I think he has backed up a few times; I don't know when the last one would've been.

greetings to all. nice to be back. but, uh, i seem to remember that this thread had a few more posts. i hope to hell they're floating around somewhere, 'cause i don't got 'em.
so, would it be a total mind**** if i just posted about the next game as though this never happened? 'cause unless someone's got a better idea, that's what's goin' down.

y'all've got no idea how badly i want to just post, post, post in this thread, but even that won't satisfy me. 26 fooking games...gone. obviously this pale hose thing is going to continue -- hell, if the league file itself could almost crash and we still continue on, i sure as hell ain't going to let a little board crash end this thing before we win the WORLD SERIES.
but this does suck quite a bit. |

heh. kind of befits the thread and the team, though, huh?
![]() my last bit for the night -- you, whoever you are reading this -- it's on you now. it's on all of us as readers to restore the forum to the point where it's as lively as it was a few months ago. it's a pain in the rear, but i think of all of the hours i've spent writing about this fictional major league team, and all of the time i've spent reading other dynasties -- and it'll be worth investing just a little more time now. i had started taking this forum for granted a little before these boards crashed, i'll be honest. not reading as many other dynasties, not commenting as much. you know that old saying about loss, and it's spot-on. ok, enough of that. i'm going to say that there is going to be a pale hose update tomorrow. what it will be, i have no idea, but surely something, just because i enjoy it. cheers, craig |

I couldn't agree more, Craig. I'm going to read more. (Hopefully) write more. I've rebuilt my two dynasties. They're already caught up. So read! And comment! I demand attention.
![]() And I'm glad the Pale Hose will go on. Few things are more fun than opening up my e-mail and seeing there's a new Pale Hose update.

Craig... that's the pale hose way to just pick up where it was left off. Those 26 games? We don't need 'em. We've got the after-crash pale hose. Plus... it's about 30 pages of reading that someone isn't going to have to do if they start from the beginning. It's all about making it fan friendly!

I have struggled with figuring how to reconcile the missing games, anyway, so I am in fact just going to move on. Though that update won't come for a few days -- suffice to say I am planning something different, and I will need a little time to polish it up. It will not be a post that is simply about "the next game", that is for sure. Hey, I haven't posted in this thread since July, I can do these sort of things. So, it is May twenty-fourth, 2007, and we've got 20 wins, 24 losses. When we had 20 wins to our credit last season, we also had about 40 losses. Of course, we were about a .500 team the rest of the way -- and here we are, about a .500 team this season. So, just maybe, despite the evidence to the contrary, "We are the Pale Hose, but the Pale Hose don't suck." (TM Vris) But prepare for a nice five-game losing streak, just the same. We are heading out to Oakland, then Kansas City and finally New York in a nice whirlwind tour of the country. By the time we get back home, we'll have a new glimmer of hope by way of the sixth pick in the amateur draft, not to mention a better idea of whether we are the Pale Hose or the Pale Hose.

Glad to see you back Craig. Those 26 games are lost, but aren't forgotten. We are anxious to see how the Pale Hose react after this. It's not like they lost players (as in the file corruption), they only lost the box scores of the past month. That's something that can be worked around.
Always looking forward to the next update, Craig. They never disappoint. |

Craig,
You realize you've been doing the Pale Hose for approximately 68,925,080 days longer than the average dynasty lasts, right? Pop open a cold one and party down to celebrate your accomplishment. And, uh... post your next update while you're in the middle of that celebration. I promise you'll feel liberated. |

Even with the fall of Pale Rome, Mighty Byzantium still shines on. The barbarians who have sacked the 26 points of the Eternal City forget that Constantinople remains unblemished for a year and 44.
Oh and Rome is a TT series.

![]() It was at that moment that Craig came to another realisation, one more profound and intoxicating than the first. It wasn't actually about the Pale Hose. It wasn't even about baseball, but about plain ol' common-to-goodness human kindness. He understood how knowledge without compassion could never lead to wisdom and how we must all do our part for the good of every man. Craig had journeyed deep within himself and returned a changed person, with less flashy, but infinitely more comfortable shoes. He resolved to do his share and then some; he thought of others before himself, protected the environment by using only recyclable seal clubs, gave to the poor (mainly STVs for Craig was not a wealthy man, he simply gave what he could), he went to Africa to build irrigation systems, fought for the rights of street entertainers and from then on would only sacrifice "[...]those orphans who hath witnessed not fewer than 21 cycles about the Sun." A warm smile of benevolence accompanied his face everywhere, (sometimes on his lips, sometimes in a matchbox) and even the iguanas knew he must be blessed. He felt the good and the majesty of nature and became ever more attune to its power. He began to forget the stresses and prejudices of everyday life and his mind cleared of all pre-conceptions. He was in tune with the present. In tune with the world, and he entered into the hallowed state of blissful, perfect nothingness. He became a Mormon. And as he ascended, so too did his words, leaving this tale too, in a state of reverant, peaceful, imperial nothingness. *Craig lost his state of inner-peace and decency 4 months after these events. He later went to law school.

I was going to spin y'all a little anecdote from my actual baseball watching, since I've been meaning to post that for quite a while now, but that can wait. As, apparently, the Pale Hose can. Still trucking along, but not quite ready to throw you some actual fictional baseball. Not yet. Of course I'm setting y'all up for a big letdown...but it won't be as bad as a nine-game losing streak. Trust me on that!Craig |

you kind of served that one up over the course of the first however-many-posts this thread has, i think.
everyone experiences the sophomore slump though, apparently even in this "universe"? for many moments, for many weeks, it seemed much more like this universe became more like a county -- one that had accrued a lot of debt and had tobacco as its cash crop in the middle of nuclear winter. personal analysis: i think what you constructed in the mounting of dozens of pages of pre-season chatter was the largest, grandest cliff, and you walked right off. about two dozen games in, or so, when we had that chat on aim about how you approached the posts last year compared to this season, is when you seemed to turn a bit of a corner. then reality hit in the form of a job and all, and we were left at the alter. while this may be the longest season in the history of any kind of baseball (i can estimate this to take maybe three, four mlb seasons to complete pale hose #2?) it only means that the mounting anticipation that you built in the pre-season is keeping this concept hanging to the ledge of that cliff, if only by a fingernail, and for some reason we're all pulling ourselves back up. regardless of whether or not pale hose is good enough to make the playoffs this season, i think its important that something unbelievable happen, because this entire thread can not go on without a conclusion such as that.

hey, now, *there's* a productive week, huh?
actually, it was, but that meant less pale hose than ever. troubling, but sometimes it has to be. hopefully this next post will make up for it. it ain't what i originally planned, but i like it just the same. hope you do, too.
