Logo Request: Gimli Gliders

As if there isn't enough logo requests already, I'll throw my request out as well.

I have a solo league with 20 fictional teams called the Manitoba Prairie League. One of the teams is Gimli.

Back in 1983, there was a famous aviation incident involving an Air Canada Boeing 767 that was forced to land at a discontinued military airbase in Gimli, Manitoba, about 50 miles north of Winnipeg. The plane was en route to Edmonton from Montreal. Due to human and mechanical errors, it ran out of fuel over North Western Ontario, and the pilots were forced to land the big bird as a glider, something Air Canada had never anticipated.

With no engine power and little hydraulic power, the pilots had to 'wing it' with the landing. Realizing that they would not make it to Winnipeg International Airport, the navigator chose Gimli, as he had flown from there when he was in the military. The landing strips were being used for go-cart racing and for family outings at the time of the surprise landing.

Anyway, in commemoration of this unique event, I would like to get a logo done up, if possible. Thanks!

The Gimli Gliders is a great name.

Glad you enjoyed it, Eugene. It's quite the story.

I just wanted to mention that any potential logo could simply have "Gliders" featured in the logo itself. The other logos I use for the other teams in the league just have the team name or no name at all.

The one real life logo I remember coming across that could be adapted to my use is the Windsor Spitfires hockey team logo. Perhaps that could be modified by one of the local logo wizards?

Terrific job, theasfl! Thank you so much!

As you can see, it looks great in my league files. I like the red and white, since that matches Air Canada's colors.

Excuse my ignorance: what is a 'psd' file used for?

its the photoshop file, it keeps the parts of the image seperate so theyre easier to manipulate
