Chris Morris is a jerkface
Late in the season two years ago, I signed this douchebag to a four-year extension worth $11.5M annually. He had 263 career homeruns at the age of 32, was a five-time All Star, the defending RBI champion and a lifelong Cub.
Naturally, within about a week of inking the deal, his talents sunk. His ratings followed. Now he was still an effective hitter but not an All-Star, especially at first base, and certainly not worth 11 mil and change. The offseason was even more kind to him and by Opening Day he was out of the lineup, replaced by a .210 career hitter. By season's end, his ratings were 2/3/1/8/3. I left him off the postseason roster in hopes his demotion would spark a retirement. Our new season just started so the first thing I checked was my salary report, and there he was, stinking up the #1 spot on that list for yet another season. God knows if he'll retire after this year or the next, or if he'll pocket that nearly $35M and laugh all the way to the bank. I've never seen an utter collapse without an injury in my OOTP life. I wish there was a Nancy Kerrigan button to club someone with a lead pipe. What a jackass.

Is this the same Chris Morris that the nets drafted in the first round about 10 years ago, and did absolutely nothing?

Yeah, I saw that Mr. Bulldog. That's the first thing I mentioned to Commish Dugan after I flipped the season.

Speaking of disgraced Nets, did anyone ever see this quote from D. Coleman about a decade ago? He was discussing an invitation from a certain teammate of his... I'll give you one guess as to whom he was referring:
"I'm not going hunting with anyone who plays the same position as me." |

I feel for ya.
Early on in our Maelstrom Redsox history Pedro Martinez got a career ending injury at the ripe age of 31 I believe. Truly devastating, but you are paying more than I ever did. At least Pedro's salary was done after the season you are in effect paying multiple years for a guy who's career has been over. Sorry dude.

I've seen this effect in the Boys of Summer league.
Badly in need of middle infield help, I accepted a trade for an aging, but still good Rogers Hornsby (something like 65 contact /50 gap /50 power), in exchange for a good 1b (I had three who could all start). Over the course of the next three months, his stats have already cut in half. Not the fault of the fella I got him from, but BLOODY HELL. ![]() So yeah. I feel your pain; though not financially. Love the reserve clause.

I had a similar guy have a huge 1 year collapse in the KBL.
http://kbl-ootp-online.com/reports/c...rasani507.html Asani Wangari was one of the best players in the KBL but he just collapsed through the 1004 season. I swear just about every sim he took a rating hit. He want from perennial All-Star player to below average player rating-wise in the space of a couple months. I was lucky and his contract ran out in 1004 though. ![]() The shocking thing was that he didn't retire as a FA in 1005 and came back with 1/4/1/5/3 batting ratings (down a bit from his 1003 8/5/10/9/7 ratings!). He played a season and then retired. |

Sounds like he quit taking the roids after he got his new contract. You know sort of like stronger drug testing programs in place and a certain someone all of a sudden is unhealthy and hasn't played all season.

I had a guy that hit .341 and won the MVP and then the next year his average dropped to .235. He did play the whole season, but retired the next season. His ratings dropped like A-Rods popularity after his bush league Playoff knock the ball out of the glove trick.

I have a similar case. In my fictional league, Roger Hodgins became the first 30 game winner going 31-11 with a 2.76 ERA. He bacame a free agent and I decided to go for a penant by signing him to a $14M contract. After 5 or 6 weeks, he was 2-6 with an ERA just under 5.00. I was pissed. I even started simming the games he was scheduled to start thinking I was just a bad manager. I got fed up with him and traded him for another 5-star stud pitcher in the league who is saving me $5m in salary and winning for me. I checked in on Rog recently and he is 6-11 with a 4.76 ERA, obviously a one year wonder
And he still has great ratings.

I agree w/ Leiter. In fact, it's as rare to hear douchebag used these days as it is to see Leiter Fanatic in the same sentence

Yes, and Morris did this after Chicago newspapers begged for his retirement.

On another topic, "douchebag" is quite a prominent word in the bdog vocabulary.
