Adam Dunn to Houston looks likely
There has been quite a bit of talk around Houston and on ESPN that has Adam Dunn going to Houston for Ezequiel Astachio, Taylor Buchholtz, and Fernando Nieve. Both Astachio and Buchholtz were a part of the Billy Wagner to Philly to trade. Buchholtz was supposed to be main guy but Astachio has turned quite a few heads. He has become the Astros Best prospect (i think). Fernando Nieve has made major improvements and was just called up to either RR or CC, I forget which. Both Buchholtz and Astachio have ace type stuff and Nieve is in the mold of a number 2 or 3 type starter.
This would surenly deplete the Astros farm pitching except for 1 or 2 guys. But then again Dunn is only 25 and he could do wonders at MMP. So you never know.

Personally I think that would be a fantastic trade for the Astros. Players like Dunn are not exactly common and the Astros really need more young(er) hitters.

I always find it depressing to read about prospects who were once in the Phillies organization. Thanks, Ed.

I sincerely hope this a dunn deal for the 'Stros. Houston's pitching is playoff worthy. Dunn is an elite hitter and would be a huge addition to the everday lineup.

I'm not really impressed with Adam Dunn, I think in Houston's line up he won't be pitched too as much, and we all know he can't hit a curveball for crap.
I think Astro's may want to hold off on trading prospects, they are toast this year. |

OPS+ of 141, 118, 112 and 152 in his four major league seasons and he's 25. |

In a couple of years, Dunn's OPS+ will probably exceed Womack's OPS straight up.

How funny would it be if Dunn surged them into the playoffs Beltran style, then got traded to the Mets and floundered?

Damn, I was hoping the Twins' "rumored interest" would amount to more than just rumor.

I stand by my earliest assessment that the Reds are the worst franchise in baseball (currently). Not only do they have a Triple A team in the majors but they're ran by a band of idiots that couldn't run a lemonade stand much less a MLB team.

Too bad the Phillies already have three well established outfielders in Abreu, Burrell and sparkplug Kenny Lofton. Adam Dunn or Austin Kearns would look awfully nice hitting into Citizens Bank Park's mini power alleys.

I would definitely sign the paperwork on this if I were the GM of the 'stros. Dunn could easily hit 50-60 bombs in that park, and he's still young. I mean, I know no one's going to jump on any trade for Griffey at this point, but there are other Reds that can be dealt for specs before you start tossing Adam Dunn around. The least they could do is hold off until close to the deadline to see if a team will chuck their entire farm for him.
