Mobile, Binghamton Available (OOTP5)
The Eastern League / Southern Association 1948 season is on the way and we are currently in the offseason. The draft is going on right now. This league simulates the Class A Eastern League and Southern Association of the 1940's and 50's. The team names and ballparks are all real. The players are fictional, though it'd be hard to prove that, say, Bo Burnett didn't play center for the 1947 Atlanta Crackers.
The salary structure is adjusted accordingly. There are still two openings at this point. The Mobile Bears came in 7th in the S.A. in 1947 with a 63-75 record. They are a balanced team, but lost a lot of money this past season and need to be turned around financially before they can contend. They are picking 5th in the 1948 draft and chose Bill Yearwood with their first round pick. Their minor league system is 4th out of 16 and not only includes Yearwood (7th), but also the #1 prospect in the ELSA, Michael Small. The Binghamton Triplets finished 60-77, good enough for 6th in the Eastern League. This team is in utter financial hell, but recently had over $15M in salary come off the books for 1948 and has more contracts (~$12.6M) leaving after next season. Binghamton is picking 4th in the draft and chose starter Kevin Adorno with their first round pick. Their minor league system ranks 11th in the league. We have a great core of passionate GM's. Many of which grew up or live in the cities they represent. It is easy to turn a bad team into a contender. New Orleans went from 43-95 in 1946 to 71-66 in 1947 due to the availability of cheap, quality talent.
