Is there a way to see career leaders in Hr's? A list that showed Aaron, Ruth, Bonds, etc.
If not, if someone breaks the career HR record, will I know? |

Since the game doesn't come with real players how could these things be part of the game? You can look at your league's career leaders by going to the "History" area in the drop down menus.

Thanks, I meant with add on Rosters. It has the record book with single game and season records, but I didn't know if it had career records anywhere also.

There is no way to do this currently. The game recalculates career leaders whenever you view the history by checking player pages (or something like this). Since historic players won't be in your player database, they will not show up on the career leader board, and there is no way to edit this.

A large undertaking if anyone wanted to do this would be to create the leader boards by importing each player into the Rolen2002 league file, then giving them a career ending injury, this would allow you to have the players in your career leaderboard, and in your hall of fame. However, this will also cause the players to claim to have retired in 2002 (after death for some of them and their Hall of Fame induction dates will be wrong). If someone does this and the players retire, then the players would be saved in the retire.dat file and should allow that file to be posted and added to leagues keeping all retired leaders in the game.
Just a thought I think it will work, but no guarentees on this. |

It also has instructions on how to use the file.

I believe you'll need retired.dat to get the correct retired players to make actual leaderboards for MLB History. |

Actually as long as the player receives no ML playing time then the game will use the last year they have any stats for (ie if you were to import Ty Cobb into your league and keep him off a teams major league roster then at the end of the season if he retired it would say he was inducted in 1928 or 1929 (can't recall his last year off the top of my head) also his card would only show his last year played also.) The only problem is that they will not be sorted by retirement years it would go by whatever order the players retired in, but I imagine that isn't that big of a deal.
The best way that I have found to accomplish the no playing time is to play out your first season and prior to hitting "Proceed to next Season" import all the players that you want career stats for. That way you don't have to go through and give each player an injury to keep other teams from claiming them as free agents. In most instances all the players imported will retired when you proceed forward but on occasion there will be some that are stubborn and hang on for 1 more year, you'll want to doublecheck the new career leaderboard and make sure none are marked as active. I did this a couple of times for v3 and to import then entire top 25 for all the listed stats only took about a hours worth of time. |

Stupid question; where can I see the career leaders from my league?
Edit; I found the career leaders for retired players, but is there any list that has the active players in it? I want to be able to see my active players climb the career HR list. [ 04-17-2002, 02:08 AM: Message edited by: rallymonkey1982 ]

Ok, I've got a few spare hours tonight and I am ready to try this "rather large undertaking." What I need to know is
A: Where do I import the players from? B: How do I import the players? C: Once I'm finished with this task, how do I give them career ending injuries? If I can get some answers to these questions, I'll begin this immediatly and post a file for all to download as soon as I'm finished. |
