When I play I like to control everything except defense. It is too tedious and makes the game too long for my tastes. The problem is I can't substitute defensive players when they are on the field in the middle of an inning, especially my pitcher. If the game is close and my pitcher gets cold I lose because I can't pull him out. I have every option set to human conttolled including substitutions the only exception is defense which of course is set to computer. How can I fix this problem?
Please help if you can. Thanks.

I don't think you can do both here - not control the defense, yet control the defense
. I think you'll have to set defense control to "human" if you want to sub defensive players.

This is one annoying feature you cannot make a pitching change if you are not controlling the defense. Pitcher gets tired and you basically have to 'continue' your way into your opponent scoring a big inning because you couldn't change pitchers. One way I found to solve it was to 'sim' the inning, in most instances the CPU will go ahead and make a pitching change. Maybe not the one you wanted in but better that then leaving a tired one in.

Seems to me that this is a bug in how the computer is running the defense. If the pitcher is tired shouldn't the computer make the replacement -- especially if sim'ing the inning causes the computer to do the sub?
And I'm major pissed right now because I just lost a game because my pitcher got tired and I didn't know about the sim WORKAROUND. Of course a couple of runs scored before I could make the OFFENSIVE sub to put my closer in.....to BAT so that he could pitch the next inning. Oh yeah....ditto on the Hook 'em! |

uhhmmm.... maybe this was introduced in 4.2, but I can't hit the "Simulate" button when I'm on defense! It's always sitting at a "Press a key or mouse button to continue..." prompt.
So the sim work around doesn't work around. |
