Cato's History question
Do I need to have Access to run this program, and if so, which version, 97 or 2000? Thanks in advance, just starting with this game, was a diehard APBA player for years, and just found OOTP. Needless to say it is the best baseball game that I have ever played.

Any idea why when I first run the program it says it is unable to make database or something like that, I am at work, so I'm not sure of the exact wording. I would love to get this running, as the info it puts out is excellent

How far did you get? Did you just open up the program, go to "New Database" and then it gave you the error?

It ran, like it was working, then it said something like unable to create database, when it was done. I am going to lunch now, and I will run home and get the exact info. Thanks for trying to help me, be back in about an hour and a half.

After installing, which goes fine. When I try to run it, following Catos readme to a tee, I get : Provider cannot be found. May not be installed properly. I have downloaded and installed 3 times now, with still no luck.
It makes data and website folders, and a history.mdb file. But when I try to open I get the Proveder cannot be found again. I hope someone can help me out. Thanks in advance. |

Did you download the full install version and run the setup program? It has it install MDAC 2.7 in order to read an Access database without Access. BTW, the database is in Access 2000, but you don't have to it to run the program.

Yeah, the full install, but this was before the 120 patch, I was using the 113 patch. Any chance this will help? I can get Access 2000 if you think that might help at all. I have Access 97 now, could that be part of the problem?

Is the file ootphist.ini in the install directory? If not, use Notepad to make this file. Just type in a valid directory (c:\ is fine) and save it. Also, is ootphist.mdb in there, too?
Access 97 isn't a problem. I've used on systems with it and without it.
