My League...
So Im starting a new league, and like others I want everything to be set up perfectly. This league I plan to play for many many years. I have a feeling of what the team market and fan loyalty should be, however cross referencing with somebody else could help me make some decisions on ones that im not totally sure about. Thanks for any help with this, even if you only do one.
Keep in mind, teams that are in cities such as New York have to compete against the Yankees and Mets for factors such as Market and Loyalty. Las Vegas Los Angeles Sacramento San Jose Denver Portland Salt Lake City Seattle Dallas Nashville New Orleans San Antonio Boston New York Norfolk Raleigh Chicago Columbus Detroit St. Louis Atlanta Orlando Palm Beach San Juan Also any input on the cities (such as: why Raleigh and not Charlotte?) I would be interested to see. I tried to keep teams out of smaller market MLB teams, and for the most part I think I was succesful, however there are regions that a city like Seattle was the only logical place for a team. ONCE AGAIN THANKS FOR ANY HELP! EVEN IF IT IS JUST ONE TEAM! |

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but what comes to my mind is why not use Hartford, CT instead of Boston? Also, Richmond, VA I believe has over 1 million people in metro population. You may want to do a search on the web for metro populations and do a league that has cities in it with over a million.

You could use Vancouver instead of Seattle.

Yeah thats part of what im looking for. The reason I used Boston is for a direct connection between a New York and Boston team. That is the base for my league... that rivalry. Also I choosed Norfolk over Richmond for the fact that the Norfolk area has 1.5 Million people compared to Richmond which only has 1 million in the suburban area... making it the smallest city in my league. Right now the smallest is Palm Beach. AlsoI choosed yo not have any Canadian teams (especially Vancouver) due to the lack of interest that there seems to be in Canada... See the Grizzlies.
Anybody have any ideas for tema market and fan loyalty? Example: Salt Lake City - Market = Small Fan Loyalty = Good |

If you are using league financials turned on, I wouldn't worry too much about team markets...they will change based on team results in a hurry, and can change pretty drastically.
I set up an original 16 team fictional league starting in 1901. I had New York = Huge, Philly and Boston = Big, etc. Within maybe 8 or 10 years of simming, Philly (A) was down to Small because of poor play. As an initial setup for your teams, I would make New York and LA "Huge", Boston, Chicago and Atlanta "Big", and the rest "Average". I would also have all team loyalty start out equal at "Good" and maybe 80% on the slider bar. As an aside, I use those team popularity numbers to determine franchise relocation. If a team market goes down to "Extremely Small" or their fan popularity gets under 10, I relocate it for the next year. |
