The Northeast will be strong this year, no doubt about it. Maybe the East will finally catch up to the West a little this year... Actually no, that won't happen, look at the other 2 divisions
.Don't you think it's early to predict the Calder and Adams trophy winners? Witht the rules changes and Oates playing with Anaheim, Kariya might finally show his full potential. Still, I don't think he'll win the Art Ross, I'll go with Bure. I think if either Bure or Kariya wins the Art Ross, he'll also take home the Maurice Richard Trophy. Joseph is a mediocre goalie at best. (too much ootp...). Seriously, I don't think he's that good of a goalie. He might win the Jennings (look at the Wings...), but I don't see him winning the Vézina. He's good, sure, but he's not in my top 3, no doubt about that. Still, atomheart, a great analysis (By the way... I listened to Atom Heart Mother in its integral form for the first time today, and it ranks 4th next to Meddle, Ummagumma Live and Dark Side in my Floyd hierarchy )

Atom Heart is the only post-Barrett Floyd I like.
![]() Also, as a Flyers fan, I don't see them winning the East this year. Too old and not enough enough depth. Jason

As a Habs fan (duh), I don't think they'll do as bad as most people predict, but I don't see them higher than 4. I think they'll finish 5th though.
The Flyers are nearing their end... I'd go with Toronto or Ottawa to finish 1st in the East. I almost bought The Madcap Laughs today, but I settled for Revolver instead (had it on vinyl). Still, Barrett is great, and he's on my desktop background

Mmmm. Madcap Laughs.
If you don't have any of the Barrett solo stuff, I'd recommend getting Crazy Diamond. Last time I checked mysimon.com, there was a place with it for $35 new, good deal for 3 CD's and a decent booklet. Speaking of Revolver, I just switched from that to Piper after reading this thread earlier. ![]() Jason

I went in a record store and they played - belive it or not - Astronomy Domine. Quite interesting Too bad it wasn't the Ummagumma version though.

I just see Dallas with new life this year - Hitchcock is gone, and they beefed up their wings. And I see Zetterberg settle nicely with all the Detroit veterans, and with Stevie Y hurt, he should see some good playing time. You might be right about Joseph. He's playing in front of a veteran defense, and he also thrives on getting a lot of shots. I don't know if he's ever been on a better defensive team. I think Ottawa has a good chance of going to the finals. They just need to find that heart that's been missing. ***** LLN, it seems that we've turned many a thread into Floyd talk. Thankfully, this is my thread, so it's not really hijacking. I've been listening to a lot of Sid's stuff recently. Mostly Opel. It's so wonderfully....unpolished, I guess I could say. Cool stuff.

Well better talk about Floyd than, say, 30 Seconds to Mars? Ah, even better, CREED!
Music can be sad these days... I should move to Europe. Heard about the band Archive? They've unfortunately grown into a Pink Floyd clone, which I think is sad because Londinium (1996) was an excellent album. Finally, so that this message isn't completely off topic, I'd like to add that playing for the Red Wings will only increase the impression that Joseph is a top goaltender. He's good, but Roy, Belfour, Théodore, Turek, Kolzig, Luongo and possibly some other ones are more talented and consistent than Curtis Joseph in my humble opinion. My pick for Norris: Lidstrom (I know, I know, how original...)

Ugh. Creed makes me sick. Bad high school poetry set to tired grunge chords.
I've heard of Archive. I'll have to give a listen to them. I think a buddy has Londinium, perhaps I'll swipe it from him... |

Creed, Nickelback, Disturbed, Incubus... all the same
. Now Queens of the Stone Age and the whole White Stripes wave, that's good contemporary rock music (was about time!)Archive have a new single out called "Again", supported by a brilliant video. However, as someone pointed out, you can sing along to Welcome to the Machine or Hey You to that song's music. It's still good in my opinion, but it's a bit too much like Pink Floyd. Londinium, on the other hand, is very inteesting.

I'm bumping this because there's been no hockey talk lately.
My predictions look pretty solid so far...Mario's leading the league in scoring, Joseph is looking solid, and the Flyers are riding high. Which sucks, because the flyers are a classless organization. |

Well come on... it's Mario! I think he's the best player in NHL history (along with Wayne and Bobby).
As far as Bobby Clarke goes... his "feud" with Gretzky is so stupid, two of the most moronic guys in pro hockey right now clashing, man that's ugly.

Clarke would have been booted from his job a LONG time ago if he wasn't a former flyer great.
I have a highlight film of the Bruins with Orr. I love watching him skate. Blows me away. The really sad thing is that he retired due to his knees....something that could have been repaired in 3 months had the science been available back then. It's a shame. |

NHL great? Sure he was probably one of the best players in the 70s... but even then his playing style was doubtful, it's not hard to see where Fleury takes his style from
![]() I don't know why the Flyers keep him in office though. Last year, at the trade deadline, he got Adam Oates. It's not a bad move.... unless you give up huge prospect G Maxime Ouellet along with 1st, 2nd and 3rd round draft picks to acquire him, and we all know that the Flyers need these picks. Plus, Clarke didn't try to re-sign Oates.... so he gave up all that to get a player that would stay in Philly for 2-3 months. What an incredible deal for the Capitals...

It's certainly fun to see the Minnesota Wild off to a good start. The team is already well-supported by the fans and this year's start is making people delirious. Much fun!

Well, notice I said Flyer great and not NHL great.
He would have been suspended once a week if he played today. As for that trade you mentioned, what a bunch of crap that was! I hate the caps just as much (for obvious reasons, being a pens fan) but Clarke really pulled a bonehead deal that time. And yes, Kezzek, it's very nice to see Minnesota playing well. The fans deserve it. However, calling the team the "Wild" is one of the most idiotic names I could have ever thought of. Even worse than the Mighty Ducks or Lightning (well, maybe not as bad as the Mighty Ducks... )

I'm glad to see an expansion team North of Tennessee, that's good news to me
![]() By the way, anyone knew that the Blues almost moved to Saskatoon and change their name to "Baboons" in the 80's?
