beta baseball. it needs owners, oh yeah.

Due to a massive owners exodus (may the ones that have health problems recover well), we need some more owners before starting our next season. We have a solid group of owners featuring, among others, board members ill16ca, mlyons and NickG.

Beta Baseball is a 12-team league using fictional rosters and a talent-only rating system, soon entering its 11th season. We are waiting until the release of v6.5 before proceeding to next season, and we decided to recruit in the mean time. The site's address is http://www.betabaseball.com , but we mostly use the message board due to my lack of web building skills.

Here are the teams that are currently vacant:

Lennongrad Coléoptères (2014 finish: 2nd out of 6 in the AL) - This team was big in 2014, tying the now 6-times in a row champions Pierrefonds Liberté, but losing the one-game playoff to that same team. A fabulous pitching staff that includes very good starters such as Ollie Griffin, Jonathan Frequent and rookie Urbain Vigneault terrorizes opponents, and the offensive side does something similar due to a very balanced batting order led by young star Frank Moore and veteran 2009 MVP 2B Riley Hemingway. If you want to win now, that's the team you want.

George Falls Barons (2014 finish: 4th out of 6 in the BL) - This formerly great team is a shadow of what it used to be. I don't quite know what to say about this team, it's quite a mess. Well, I can say that they probably have the best bullpen of the league and that they have no star players. I could say that they have a rich tradition and that you might want to pursue it. So... New Skojpp Czars (2014 finish: 3rd out of 6 in the BL) - This could be an interesting team to manage. First, they have a solid core of star players, such as C Ignace Lauchart, 25 year old 1B Augustin Lampion and SS Ralf Sturm. Second, they have a couple of great prospects in their system. However, what you get with this team is a bank account of 125 million dollars to spend on free agents, amount that could be used to make that team a definite contender as soon as this year. If you blow it, however, be sure to be made fun of, as this opportunity is a great one.

I would sign up for the Beta Baseball league in a heartbeat. But I'm already in it, and our commissioner frowns on cheating. So somebody else should.
