Trouble reading the screen

I am using the mlb2005 file and I am having trouble reading the names of players, etc. due to the backgrounds, how do I change that? I changed the skin, but that didn't do much....thanks

In the game configuration.exe screen (it's an executable in the same directory as your ootp executable) set the Toggle Direct 3D Mode to Disabled - that took care of the same problem I had.
