What do you include in the league file
Hi Everyone,
I'm in the 2nd season of our league, and our league file is consistently growing. I've noticed in other leagues, the file, even after many seasons, seems relatively small in comparison. Can anyone give me advice what exact files/directories need to be in the league file, and efficient way of creating them. Currently I'm using winace to create a zip template file that backs up the entire league directory. Cyrus |

Remove all team exports, that is the first thing to go if you want to keep it small.
Some leagues like to keep a seperate zip for box scores and game logs. When you take this out of your main zip, it will keep your file to a nice size. |

Its easiest to tell you the only things you need; *.dat and *.txt files. That's it.
All HTML EXCEPT the log*.html and box*.html are regenerated. Many leagues use a small league file that only contain the *.dat and *.txt files and then include an HTML file that has the log*.html and box*.html files as a separate download. |

Also, no real need to include the Retired.dat in the small file...

One more question. Do I need to include all the files in the Message directory?
Can they be safely removed ever? |

I make 2 files.
first I copy the league file & work from that for the full file I delete the exports, logos, & the p###.html files. & then zip it For the update file I delete everything from the day of the previous sim and older. & i mean everything. for owners that keep updated it is a nice small file, but the full file can get kind of bulky by seasons end so I sometimes take out the first half of the seasons box scores & logs and make a second download package I also take the almanacs out at the begining of the season

With the ABC, I put up three files.
1. dat files only 2. Full league folder 3. Just the files that changed during the last sim. To accomplish #3, zip up your folder like you do normally, with everything included. Then sort the files it in by dats and del;ete all of the ones that are dated the same day as your sim. |
