I really love the A's but, if they were a good team, they would have won last night. The Nat's handed us that game with the error in the 9th.

Oh well, at least our future looks better than the team across the bay.

As much as I hate the moniker "Chokeland A's," it fits. They are never able to capitalize on opportune situtations and when other teams give them breaks.

And I really think Scutaro should have been pinch-hitting for Crosby in the 9th. Crosby's quad was hurting after legging out that triple. And Scutaro is Mr. Clutch.

Just got back from the game tonite, was happy to see a good number of A's fans in attendance.

Crosby's home run was a rocket, I can't believe how hard that ball was hit. His double to right field was also a good AB, I hope he can keep this up the rest of the season.

How clutch was Dan Haren with a run scoring single with 2 down to tie the game. Nice to see the pitcher helping him self out.

After watching Haren at the plate, I think Macha should consider giving him some AB in LF or even DH

His first AB of the game he hit a fly ball to deep center field, he put the ball in play when we had guys on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and the aforementioned single.

on a side note if anyone happened to listen to the game 6/9/05 on the A's radio how neutral of an announcer is Hank Greenberg.
Hank Greenwald is a pretty terrible announcer for the A's. (Hank Greenberg did do some announcing back in the day for the Tigers after his playing career was over, I believe, but I don't think he's around any more.) I didn't mind his dry style so much when I saw Giants games occasionally, but with the A's it's clear he doesn't know the team or the AL very well and has his head with the Giants when it's not up his backside. It sounds like he's sitting there dozing off and Fosse nudges him just in time for him to make a statement about the action, then he goes into his stupor again. It was a bad decision to fire Greg Papa for this guy, presumably trying to cater to the general baseball fan in the Bay Area who is used to Greenwald.

And Eric Chavez was playing out of his mind today. Very nice game to see.

Ok, I'll fess up. I knew it was Greenwald or Greenberg and I was just too lazy to look it up before I posted. Bill King is probably my favorite A's announcer. Definitely an "old school" guy. He refuses to go to Texas because of the ballpark and the scores and he doesn't cover any interleague games at all. Its quite comical to here some of the banter the A's three man team has when Greenwald isn't in there.

Joe Blanton sure is a mystery. Just when you think he sucks and need to go back to the minors, he pulls something like last night's game (7 IP, 3 H, 4 K, 0 BB, 0 ER) out of his hat. Very nice win and a pleasant surprise.

In other news, Keith Ginter was recalled and Matt Watson was sent down. Why? Eric Chavez has a sore shoulder, and actually has had shoulder problems for years now. But it's bothering him enough now that he's going to DH for awhile. I hope this doesn't turn into a serious problem.

Blanton just had a really, really bad May. His ERA was under 3 in April and is under 3 so far this month. His May ERA was 13.25. I think Blanton gets better and better. It's unfortunate that this team has dug such a hole because they're not a bad team by any means.

Hmmm...oddly enough, this comes out after signing a big, fat, long-term deal. Did the A's not do a physical prior to inking Chavy or is Chavy exagerating a little when he says it's hurt ever since he's been an Athletic??

Either way, this isn't good news because the A's can hardly afford to pay Chavy what they are paying him to be a part-time third baseman/DH when we're more than stocked with expensive DH-types already, not too mention with a plethra of young DH-types on the way up.

Absolutely. Maybe we should try to start a trend around here.

Just a note to say, wow the A's are playing well lately.

Was Blanton's job on the Mets a fluke deal or is there a rumor he's turned the corner?

He has a 2.70 ERA this month. He had a 2.67 ERA in April. It looks more like May was just a flukey bad month for him than anything. I don't think what he did to the Mets was a fluke at all.

Boy, sure looks like things are starting to right themselves in Oakland...woohoo!!!

Chavez is tearing it up and Crosby is finally back and is doing what most of thought he could do...provide some pop from the right side. Kendall is doing what Billy grabbed him for...getting on base more regularly and Ginter has been effective in his second go-around with the big club. Kotsay has been in a little funk as of late, but that could be related to some back trouble and hopefully he can get over that with a couple more days off here and there. Dan Johnson seems to be coming around and has started to hit regularly and he'll have to keep that up if he has any chance of sticking when Durazo is ready to come back. Swisher has been pretty bad so far...hopefully something will click in him in the second half and he starts to put it all together...we'll just have to wait and see.

On the pitching side of things...another good start from Blanton...Haren has been great over the last month, and so has Zito. With Harden set to comeback in a week so, our rotation should be what we all thought it could be after the dust settled from the big trades this offseason. Street has been impressive but looks to be out of action for a little while but Dutchie should do just fine for the time being.

All in all, it's fun again to watch our boys take the field and maybe they can make things interesting in the second half!!!!

Yeah... he's hitting .355 in June and making up for that awful first two months. Regarding the bad shoulder - I had a dream the other night that he was playing third and he got a hard grounder hit to him and he couldn't even chuck it past the pitcher's mound. Thank goodness that was just a dream and his D is still looking stellar.

Thank goodness. He is really doing EVERYTHING better this year and has settled into the #3 spot in the order. It's just a shame he missed the first two months.

His .224 average looks pretty bad, but he has had some timely hits and played some very nice D out in right and even at first base.

It's definitely nice to see Blanton and Haren getting their acts together and pitching well. Zito had another shaky start on Friday, but he struck out 7 in 6 innings, which is a bit of a silver lining.

With Harden coming back soon, it should make for a fun summer for the green and gold. Can we get back to .500???

For the sake of the Owls and the A's, I hope you're wrong.
