16 Original Logos Required
Here's a request for our fine designers. I'm planning on starting up a new fictional league (to run alongside PABA) latter this summer (have to get OOTP up and running again!). Here's the catch. The league will be set in 1946 on a fictional Caribbean Island by the name of Tropico, which yes I did borrow from the old game. 16 cities will field teams for the opening season, and each will have its own personality. Since I'm in no rush, I'll post them one or two at a time.
For the logos themselves, please try to make them classic and colorful at the same time. That will likely be a challenge, but one I'm confident you guys can tackle. I've posted the map of the island, which looks crappy because it was done in Paint, below. Thanks in advance |

Tropico Islanders- the heart and soul of the island since the first British garrison landed, Tropico now serves as the capital city of the nation. It is by far the biggest city, and has begun to establish itself as a rival to neighbors such as Havana and San Juan. The name "Islanders" was the overwhelming choice of the locals when the league was announced. The name dates back to the 1890's and the original Islanders- one of the first great amateur squads to play "beisbol" on Tropico.

Logo Request #3/16
St. Peter's Mutiny- The story behind the name "Muntiny" is one of the many colorful tales in Tropico History. The year was 1809 and St. Peter's Island was still the penal annex of Tropico. On a stormy night in late September, 83 inmates overpowered their guards and fled towards the docks. The escape would have worked, had it not been the prisoners misfortune to have their leader, a Captain Fredrick fatally wounded. As their commander succumbed to his injuries on the deck of a hijacked transport, the escapees asked him who should lead in his absence. For all the skill Fredrick displayed in escaping prison, his reply was painfully stupid. "Duel for the honor" were his last words. This, of course, started a chain reaction. When the guards rushed to the pier in the morning they found the transport still docked with several prisoners fighting for command.

Flamingo Thunderbolts- When the leaders of the small town of Flamingo heard that a new baseball league was being formed, they had no doubt about the nickname.
Col. Andres Martinez, a Flamingoian, had recently led Tropico's lone fighter squadron into battle on Iwo with the Americans. Their service record was excellent; 3 Jap fighters shot down, and one crucial bridge destroyed. To honor Martinez the new squad would be called the Thunderbolts, the nickname of the P-47 fighter Martinez captained. |

Just to jot down a thought about islands and Thunderbolts.
Many players fought in WWII in the Pacific, so a "Solomons Campaign" league using 1940's real players, or just their names, would be an interesting project. Guadalcanal Slotters Rabaul Rangers Bougainville Grunts Truk Tigers Yap Yellow Jackets Wake Island Fightin' Cee Bees Biak Bengals Leyte Lightnings (P-38 variety) I'm sure there are others more better than these. |

Very cool CW. If you're interested, I got the idea for the name from something I read a long time ago that mentioned Brazilian pilots fighting in Pacific.

Nice logos (really like St. Peter's #1), no alterations needed.
I would post the remaining requests, but I am uncertain of the future for this project. I currently do not have access to OOTP, and it may be awhile until I regain it. When that happens I'll bump this thread, but in the meantime I think it would be in our designers' best interests to fufill more pressing needs. |
