80's nicknames

Okay, I'm looking for some of the lesser know nicknames from the 80s. For example, in Texas, the called Jerry Browne "The Governor" and Minnesota had names like "G-Man" for Gary Gaetti and "Gags" for Greg Gagne.

What are some of the ones you guys remember from the 80s? I'll be using these to update the '85 league file I'm working on, adding something extra to the PBP.

I have the APBA sets from 83-87 (plus some minor players from 88-91) and these list nicknames for many players.

George "Mullet" Brett
Ryne "Gabby" Sandberg (in 83, then changing to Ryno in 84)
Eric "E" Anthony
John "T-Bone" Shelby

are ones that come to mind. If I find some time this weekend, I'll see what I can find. PM me if you are looking for specific players.

They both had that nickname, IIRC. In fact, when Reardon ran into some trouble in 1987, the fans started calling him "The Instigator."

Well, "Rem Dawg" is something that's been created in the last few years. No one called him that when he played.

I liked Earl Weaver's nickname for Don Stanhouse better. "Six Pack" (I think it was six) because that's how many packs of cigs he'd smoke while on the mound.

All the others sound right except Garvey. I was a fan of his while he was a Dodger but don't remember them ever using a nickname with him, though they many times mentioned he might run for office some day. Was that while he was with the Padres?
