Jayzone Help
Well, not necessarily help with or from Jayzone himself, but help with Jayzone's Rating Translator.
I think I've got everything set up. I downloaded CommishJoe's exporter, got it to run correctly, did the ratings translator step to generate equivalencies, but: When I go to "Scout" a player, I don't get anything at all. No output, no error report (like wrong player ID or something). The program just closes. Anyone have any ideas? P.S. I assume that the player ID number is the one listed next to the player's name when you export rosters to a CSV. Is this right? |

First of all, the answer is yes to the question about player ID. The number in the first column in players.csv is the player ID. This ID is the unique player ID assigned and used by OOTP (eg. for player photo indexing, player history file/html indexing, etc.)
As for the program problem itself, I am not too sure what's going on. I have yet to encouter the issue that you described here so I am interested in finding out as well. (first time hear something like this) The utility is designed in such way that all errors (that i can think of) will be reported back from the program, much like the error message that you get for having invalid player ID. Well, in order to find a solution to the problem, I will probably need your CSV files and the detailed steps of what/how you did it. Only then, I could try to see if I can reproduce the problem and track down the cause. Also, there are a few things that I am curious about. What happenes if you enter an invalid ID (eg. 6000)? And is the problem presistent with all player IDs?

Mike,
I would still love to hear the up-to-date info on the issue from you. If it's a bug that I didn't catch, then I would very much like to have it fixed. If you want, you can contact me via PM or email. Thanks.

The problem, Jayzone, is that I am a moron!
I didn't realize that you had to click on the player report html after you click on "Scout!" I thought it would just pop up, and when it didn't, I was unsure about how to find it. So, problem solved. No worries. But I should thank you so much for this incredible utility. It's played no small part in my renewed interest in the game. |

Thanks for the kind words and glad to hear that it all worked out at the end for you.
It's also good to know that it's not a potential bug issue.Still, after you pressed the "Scout!" button, a second window which contains the player report should still 'pop up'. It just might take a second or so to 'pop up', so you click elsewhere on the desktop it might become hidden until you click on the taskbar again.
