Ive been watching since there isnt much else on and the Astros suck. I hadnt bothered watching softball in a long time because I found it pretty boring because basically nobody ever scores. This time around though its been pretty good, the pitchers still have to much of an advantage over the hitters though. Osterman is pretty incrediable though, but her offensive support is worse than what Clemens gets.

actually, it isn't. According to ESPN, Clemens gets about 1.6 runs per game of support, and Osterman, according to a graphic last night, gets about 2.6 runs per game. Texas scores half a run more when she's not pitching.

It has been a lot of fun to watch.

The intensity these girls have is double what the guys give I think.

Because of this, I am going to go watch the US National team when they play about an hour away next weekend.

I love the games, I just can't stand female announcers. Only Rex Hudler is more annoying.

That's what I thought, the females really go for broke, the fans are fanatic

The announcers are terrible, one said Thome was on the Indians
and I do believe, they kept the mic on once, and the same announcer with short hair made a sexual reference to one of the players, she isn't announcing today

I have it on ATM because you couldn't pay me to watch Mets/Giants, but its basically just background noise while I'm on the comp. Unless you like watching pitching, womens softball is more boring than watching golf. Weak groundouts and strikeouts just don't excite me at all. They need to move the mound back a couple feet or something so the girls can actually hit, seeing like 30 swinging bunts is just ridiculous.

The 8th inning jam intrigued me enough to pull myself away to watch the rest of that inning. I'll be the first to admit I don't know much about softball so I may be wrong. so can someone explain to me why with 1st and 2nd, 2 outs in the 8th inning, pinch hitting for your All-American isn't the dumbest coaching move I have ever seen.

Damn, nearly 300 pitches in 12 hours.

That girls arm must feel like putty.

And she gets to do it all over again in a few hours.

actually, throwing underhanded doesn't have anywhere near the effect on your arm as throwing overhand. Physical exhaustion is more of a concern than arm fatigue.

It's a remarkable sport. Everything is condensed; the baselines are shorter, the outfield fence is shorter, the pitching distance is shorter, and the strike zone is actually wider due to the width of the ball itself -- it's like baseball in a bottle. Every game at the World Series level is a pitcher's duel.

My sister played college ball and my wife was a 2-time All-American, so we have definitely been watching. One thing I've noticed is the level of play from teams not in So Cal. Years ago it used to be that the Michigans and Texases and Arizonas all had girls from So Cal who didn't get scholarships to UCLA or Fresno St. or Cal Berkeley. Not anymore. Terrific depth of talent now.

Also, it's difficult sometimes to be a basball fan and watch softball until you realize that the rules may be similar, but softball is not baseball.

I watched on and off all weekend. I grew up near Stratford, Ct., home of the Raybestos Brakettes so I've watched a fair amount of women's fast pitch over the years.

I played fastpitch softball for about 10 years, and I couldn't agree more. It's scaled down well from baseball, and it's fast and fun.

Also, whether Tennessee or Michigan get to the championship series, it'll be the first time an eastern time zone school has EVER played for the Women's College World Series title.

Well aware that is much less stress on the shoulder like baseball. But no matter what, anybody who moves their arm that much, it has to feel a little funky.

true dat.

So, the only thing that sucks about softball, when it gets to this level, is that it's 2-0 UCLA in the 4th and this game's now pretty much over.

So, the only thing that sucks about softball, when it gets to this level, is that it's 4-2 Michigan in the 5th and this game's now pretty much over.

I watched a little bit of the games and would agree that the announcing is pretty horrendous, makes Joe Morgan look like a genious. The most annoying thing I notice was that it takes them forever to actually get out what their saying so it appears like their rambling. Also noticed that the home plate umpires seem to have a bit of a delay in calling strikes or balls.

I'm surprised one of the girls' arms hasn't flew off with a pitch in one of this games, since pretty much the same one pitches every game of the world series not to mention a bulk of the regular season games. The starter for UCLA has started AND completed 41 of 59 games and pitched 315 innings of the total 408. I would hate to see those pitch counts.
