What kind of math are you using to get that delaying from 4th quarter, 2005 to 2nd quarter 2006 is delaying it a year?

Good point, but technically, it's to be used preceding a "vowel sound."

For instance: "We know the cost of AN expansion pack for OOTP."

as opposed to: "If someone spent $20 on it, they'd get more than A unit of what they ordered." (yuh- is not a vowel sound, despite the fact it's spelled that way).

Similarly: "I'll be back in AN hour to see if there's an 'edited by...' underneath a particular post." (the h in hour is silent)

I can only hope this post served to raise everyone's awareness to the critical nature of grammer. Yo, man. Later.

That's what they call "fuzzy math."

That'd be grammar, but who pays attention to such small matters?

If my grammer was still alive, I would pay plenty of attention to her.

Yeah, lets keep adding things and before you know it, we can just wait until v7.

The point is to get this ep released soon, not in months when baseball dies down. He wanted to see if there was anything he could implement without doing a lot of coding and it was nice on his part just to take suggestions.

Did you really think Markus was going to implement 200 suggestions, release it this month and charge $10?

Also, this expansion pack is purely Markus, I don't believe SI has anything to do with it.

Todd

Sounds good and I echo the request for a more exact release date, if possible. Helps us impatient folks.

Some nice housekeeping things added to what we already get

Am I allowed to say I felt a small bit of dissapointment that aging was not adressed? That IMO is the biggest problem with OOTP as it stands now. If that was tweaked then to me the game would have no more large hurdles. Oh well, maybe in version 7.

Thanks for the update.

I agree. The aging thing has been a shortcoming in the game as far as I'm concerned. I know you can use the modifiers, but IMO, it doesn't address everything. But it really is a small thing in the scheme of things if you take a step back and look at all the things OOTP does well.

Weyell... I think that once you apply the percentages SkyDog (I think) came up with, aging's pretty close... nah, what really gets my goat is the lack of a defensive spectrum. Fictional second basemen in particular seem to be way too good in this game. Tougher defensive positions should have, for the most part, worse hitters manning them because the guys who can't field the position but can still hit get moved to first base or left field. It *seems* like shortstops and catchers hit a little less well than other positions, but every other spot seems to be pretty much equal.

Forgive my ignorance, but i thought aging was done pretty well in 6. I felt it was much better than any of the previous versions. Did i miss something?

IIRC the average age in fictional leagues is still around 30 (when it should be 27). In general, players age way too slowly and then linger on a bit too long. The problem's not as bad with pitchers. That being said, SkyDog's adjustments help out a *lot* (though we still have the problem wherein all the ratings seem to age at more or less the same rate, whereas IRL contact hitting and speed tend to decline faster than power hitting, and patience very often continues to go up as a player gets older).

Relatively minor problems though IMO compared to the way leaderboards seem to be crammed year after year with 2B and LF.

I have not even started putting feature requests in there, will do this next week during testing Let's see if I can get some from the suggestion thread in there...
