Sadly, instead of starting a thread that would (possibly) put some pressure on SI, I have only started a thread that targets me and the fact 10 <> 20. 7 of 8 replies to point this out.

The question still remains, why aren't we asking for more?
I am stirred. Deeply. To my bones. Dang it ...

*flush*

By the way, you're also possibly mistaken about one more thing: SI has absolutely nothing to do with 6.5 - that's all Markus. He didn't let on to hardly anyone that this was coming, so 6.5 shouldn't be anything that anyone finds dissappointing because there were zero expectations for it. In fact he'd said that there would be no more patches or updates for v6. Well, at least he didn't lie ... he just made an expansion.

But if you don't want it or don't feel it's worth it, don't buy it. It's basically a surprise that's being offered to the OOTP community, and v6 works without it.

Both he and SI are under pressure to make a great, working game in a timely manner (OOTP7/FE/2006), and I don't think they need any more help in that department. I understand your wish for a better game and the desire to have it as soon as possible, but a grass-roots movement won't speed up anyone else's coding, testing, marketing, or downloading to your computer.

Thanks Markus, and keep up the good work.

For instance: "The Bible tells us to love our neighbors, and also to love our enemies; probably because generally they are the same people.” That's one viable strategy for survival in the OOTP Forums.

As usual a post that lends to much thought. It was such thought, that after my initial enthusiasm for the coming release and reflection of some posts in the recent SI inquiry into why no H2H in v6 (i.e. release early or release with all features, asked by Markus). I began to question, do we really need a June release or can we wait a month, especially with OOTP7 being farther down the road.

EDIT :BTW I got the price right in that post - yay me !

Well, at least Markus did say he'd patch 6.5. While I doubt there will be more features added, we can always dream.

Of course, I also think a part of him and SI want to also make sure that there's a distinct enough gap between any existing product and the one they're producing together. That and simply the time available to Markus are likely what such hopes would be up against.

... "generally".

As long as flowers are the overture, one can consider the other an alternative. But when first the teeth are shown, one doubts a bouquet rests on the tongue.

I agree with majesty

It was also very nice of him to ask for our input, even though he knew most of us would ask for unreasonable requests, he did look over and say "That shouldn't take alot of effort" and did it

How many companies do that?

This thread confuses me.

You're complaining that he's releasing an expansion pack without telling us? And the fact he didn't use every idea? We're lucky he even asked for ideas! Most developers wouldn't do that. And your reason for making this is so SI releases the game earlier? This actually is kinda funny.

If you're confused, always remember boys kiss girls. Please don't further hijack this thread with things I never said. I am NOT asking for a quick I am asking the exact opposite - for time to add new features, DUH. And ALL developers do ask for input, esp. for already released products like a product in its 6th version and you want to know what is missing for later releases, DUH! You ask people what they want because you want your customers happy!

Markus does not have to release another version of OOTP. He could say "screw you guys, I'm going home." And never look at this game again.

But he doesn't... He is a great developer who actually listens to the customers (which he doesn't have to either).

He could charge $200 for it, you don't have to buy it and he owes you absolutely nothing. So be happy that he is continuing to make a game we all love.

Given that 6.5 performs as expected, I'd prefer his energies continue to focus on securing reliable performance in v7.

general as in "embracing a majority", sometimes both a difficult concept and task.
