I'd like to be able to put an injured player on the DL retroactive to the day after he gets hurt (assuming he hasn't played since then).

Suppose a player gets hurt Day 1. He doesn't play Day 2 or Day 3. On Day 4 I finally decide I need to make a roster move (i.e., move him to the DL and call someone up to take his place). In real life in this situation teams can opt to make the player's DL assignment retroactive to the day after the last game he played. But in OOTP that's not possible.

If it's not too hard to code, this would be a nice improvement. That way, on Day 4 I get retroactive "credit" toward the 15 day minimum DL time.

I doubt many managers leave the dugout "planning" on getting thrown out of the game.
I disagree, a manager may not 'plan' to get thrown out, but I would bet they almost always decide how far they're going to push it.

This might have been mentioned but I hope we have the option of choosing and "locking" the new "team focus".

This may and probably already has been mentioned, but is there any way to lock manager tendencies for AI controlled teams? That would make the game all that much more enjoyable to those of us that play solo leagues with other managers being named. Adds the extra individuality.

I have always wanted player vs. picter career stats....I supose it would be a bit of a nightmare for stats keeping but, when you watch a real MLB game its the first stat they quote.

That's already in the expansion.

In the spirit of having BABIP for pitchers officially added to the game, could we have Defensive Efficiency Ratio (DER) by team for the League Fielding page now?

God bless Lloyd McClendon, though....
I've seen about three times this year already. Bobby Cox does it a lot. He'll run out and ask the umpire who made the call to appeal to another ump. I see it at least once a year.

I think you will see more calls overturned because the umps are working together better than they did a decade ago or ever for that matter. You won't see plays at the bag arguments over turned but disputed HR balls and plays like A-Rod knocking the ball out of the glove type calls will be.

Well, since I first asked about this when v5 was being made and he told me not possible(not enough data space) then I'd say that this hasn't changed.....I wish this wasn't the case but that's ALOT more data that would need to be added.

Suggestion:

Have the last filter and sort criteria saved (remembered).

Example, I choose a team to trade with, bring up the other teams players, filter by SP and sort by age, choose a player. Next time I go back to add another player, it would be nice if my last filter and sort were automatically applied so I wouldn't have to filter and sort again.
I really would like this as well.

I'd also like the bugs when a player is learning a new position fixed. Sometimes I'll try to have a player learn 3B and it doesn't say (teach) but I look at the player profile and it doesn't show he's learned it either.

Also, is there a way to have the pitcher endurance increase a bit during the season if you are trying to turn a reliever into a starter? Maybe make the risk of injury a bit greater to offset the advantage you'd get in deep leagues by developing a starter who was drafted as a reliever.

How about adding the trading block screen to the trade screen? That way I don't have to memorize 10 names when I start trying to dish some of my guys in my personal leagues. I can see whose on my block and then offer them in trades.

Changing what Loyalty means

The Loyalty characteristic for players needs to be reworked, & I think this small change could be implemented for 6.5. Three main points here:

1) Loyalty should be able to change. A player that's traded, waived, and released around the league shouldn't be loyal to every team that picks him up!

2) Players often have preferences to play for certain teams. This might be the way to operationalize the concept. Roger Clemens might have minimal loyalty to Toronto but love to play for Houston. The "don't like your organization" concept captures this a bit, but only for guys that actually decide to test the FA market. The team preference should also affect whether guys decide to test the market.

3) Loyal players should not always get bad contracts. Instead, they should demand more money for short contracts and less money for long ones. IRL, Biggio and Bagwell were both loyal but also made a lot of money for a long time. The new "popular player" feature might be used in tandem with this, to force GM's to pay certain loyal players more. (Probably the most locally popular players are also the most loyal ones.)

I like these concepts, specifically the first two. That being said, while I agree with the premise it's difficult to ascertain the method of change because we have never been privy to any certainties about its actual effect in the game.

I'm not advocating that that change. Mystery is good. Unpredictability is good. So, as you've indicated, it would seem the large measure of this change -- or ability to change might be better said -- would be largely in the contract negotiation stages via length and money.

On the other hand, what may need some real reworking throughout the game is definitions of these terms and others. What IS loyalty? Should it really be a factor I can easily identify on a screen somewhere? Was Bagwell's loyalty a measure of how long he opted to stay with the team? Or is a pitcher's loyalty measure in part by his willingness to use the arm even if he's day-to-day and put himself at risk for the team's welfare? Would the Loyal be ready and a Doesn't Care take an extra day to heal?

I know that's just chipping at the top of a rather large iceberg of discussion regarding so many elements of this game, and it may even be inappropriate to respond in this fashion in this forum when Markus is really looking for features he might be able to "find time" to place in 6.5 near its completion. But as v7 still looms in our brighter future it may have its place.

Good thoughts Elendil. Change too is good.

In the team setup could you have in individual favorable matchups. Like the favor lefty/lefty matchup just for individual players only and you can pick if you want them to face rightys or leftys.

That would be pretty sweet.

*sorry if someone said this already*
