Schedule Generator problem?

I had a problem with a new league in OOTP 4.1. I was using the schedule generator and a 2 league, 24 team setup. The final game of the World Series was listed as game 40. The first 40 games of the season appear to have been overwritten at some point. All of the games were simulated tonight, 1 month at a time, with the exception of the All-Star week. No other problems seemed to happen with the schedule that I could tell. Is this a bug with the Stickware schedule generator? Have other people seen this?

Here is my solution to that problem.

When ever you create a new league, do NOT run the schedule generator on it right away. First, create a schedule using OOTP4's built in schedule generator. Once this is done, then you can switch to another league or quit OOTP4 and run Stickware's schedule generator.

By always creating a schedule first within the game, it should stop the overwriting from happening.

Sorry for the lack of detail. This is a fictional league with 24 teams, 2 leagues of 3 divisions of 4 teams. We're simming 162 games, no interleague play, balanced schedule. The schedule was done first in the external generator, not the in-game one.

If you go into the BOX directory under the league folder, box1.txt should be the first game in April, but it's a date in October. If you go to the in-game schedule and look at the boxscore, at the top it says Game 40. For instance:

Game No.: 40.
10/25/2002:
Houston at Albany

League start date was 4/1/2002.

I ran the second season of this league and did not see this problem, and I made no changes to the schedule.

Thanks

I have no idea how OOTP4 creates it's Box score files. You would have to start another season and track what files get created when...

I cant speak for the schedule generator but I know with my manually created schedules for the first season the game numbers are out of whack. In my manually created schedules the numbers are in the order I added the games to the schedule so if I added a 3 game series over 3 days at one time they would all be numbered sequentially.

It should not overwrite games during the same season. Numbers should only be used once. This situation corrects itself in the second season as the game must recheck the schedule.dat file and number the games properly. It is not a major problem at all as every box score will still be saved, its just that the game numbers will be jumbled.

Again, this is from my experience with manually creating schedules and while I expect it to be the same with the Stickware program I can not say for certain.

Hope that explains things for you.

Thanks for the reply - that's about what I'm seeing, too - I've simmed almost a dozen seasons now with this league and haven't seen the problem again.

Thanks!
