I've just started playing this game maybe a week or two ago so in my search to learn more about it I've been browsing through the forums old posts. One of the most interesting things I've learnt is that the game's career either resets statistical data, stops adding new data, or writes over it's self after the 25th year (I didn't exactly understand which one it was). From what I gather this is a space saving messure.
I'm not a programmer and I know only so much about this software (which is very little) but I do know that space (ram or hd space atleast) isn't a problem for me. Is that the type of space in question? If it is, is there a way that I can bypass this? My main goal when it comes to creating a player isn't necessarily to have them be better then real-life players or even necessarily to make the game's hall of fame or get my rookie card above 1000 (though that would be nice), it's to see how long I can stretch out a player's career. I can do that either way, but it'd be nice if the stats remained intact somehow too so that's why I ask... |

I guess there is no way? Or is my question out of date? Or did I entirely miss the point?

Fairly certain that there is a limit of saved stats/seasons and it has been reached.

I don't KNOW for certain, my "guess" is that the engine of the game is likely the same as OOTP which also has the same limit. The limit is fairly reasonable since it isn't something that has been reached often in ML history and all games have some limitations.

Part of the fun of this genre is to try and achieve the unrealistic. For the most part you don't play a typical RPG like say Final Fantasy (just to give an example of the general type I'm refering to) to be an average guy, you play it to be an unrealistically great hero. By the same token part of the fun of this genre might be to try and push the limits as far as they'd go. Part of that might be doing things like breaking Hank Aaron's record and part of that might be to stretch out a career as long as you can - which is possible. As far as I know ITP allows you to play, hypothedically, forever as long as major league teams are still interested in your services. The downside is of course that the stats your character has won't be perserved in the game, if that's currently an unavoidable limit then that's that. I just wish I understood it enough to somehow override it (but I suppose there wasn't much hope of that to begin with...) |
