do you need 6.12 for 6.5 to work?

I was wondering if you need to own OOTP in order for 6.5 to work? Essentially, can you buy 6.5 for $10 and load it on a computer without OOTP already on it or would oyu have to buy 6.12 first?

Yes you do (according to Markus' announcement).

I'm pretty sure expansion pack generally doesn't mean "Expand the game that you don't own".

Also, "It will be available for $9.95 in mid June and requires a valid license of OOTP 6 installed in order to work." might provide a clue.

Although, I do think it would be a good marketing move to package 6.5 with new ootp6 purchases. Kind of like a "gold" pack for $19.99 (or what ever the regular price is now)
