Importing players into another league

Was wodnering if its' possible to import players from one league to another league instead of doing the whole team like in Pierre's utility?

if there is a way to do it and has already been outlined, i apologize for the double post.

Pierre's utility will allow you to do single players as well. Select a team, and it should bring up a list of players. Click on the player, and hit Update (or something like that, I don't have the utility available in front of me).

does the import bring in there stats and general info as well? i would assume yes for the general info, curious about the stats however.

also, when they get imported, do they go to FA, or can you actually assign them to the team you want them to be a part of?

The import brings in the entire player: stats, ratings, etc. It does not bring in the player history (the p#.txt) file, but you can transfer that file by finding the player's old p#.txt and copying it to the new league under the new p# of the player once imported.

They import as free agents, but you can assign them to a team within the game by turning off financials and signing the player as a free agent.

Look two posts up from yours, creed. You have to transfer histories yourself, by moving the history from the old league file (with the old p#) to the new league file (with the new p#). If you're transferring a truckload of players, yeah, that can get a little unwieldy.

Ouch. Yeah, that's going to be rough. Not sure how you could automate the process, unfortunately.

i actually got it to work without it carrying over stats. it was a pain in the ass and took some time, but it has worked great.

basically i exported the general info and batting/pitching ratings to csv from the game in the league setup menu from one league. then i went into the league i wanted to import them into, and created new players, and made sure the number of players i created equaled the number of players i wanted to import, and i was able to make the new players eligible for the ammy draft. then i exported the same csv files in this league as well.

then i made a note of all the player ids from the new players, and edited the import class to give them those ids. then i copied over the players i wanted to import in. note that you should copy them over in wordpad, not excel as it will screw up their birthdates.

then i went back into the league i wanted to import into, and imported the csv files. worked without a hitch.

yeah this sounds like a super long process, but i am only importing 28 players every season, so its not too bad for me. if something doesnt make sense, and im sure it doesnt, i can explain further if need be.

well I think i'll have to go with the way i'm doing it right now, as doign that for 200+ players woudltn be a good thing.

I wonder if there's a way to clear stats from players en masse?

I once had separate leagues...ML, AAA, AA and A...arguably the best 2000 players in Major League history...and I planned to promote and demote between leagues using Pierre's Import Editor...I wanted to the leagues to be played out like the Major League in the game and not have to use the minors in the game....to get more realistic stats.

It was just too much work to manually move about 400 players every year...also I think the career stats got all messed up, but that could have been my fault...I should have made sure I imported players in their rookie seasons to avoid this...but unfortunately, I learned this after screwing up the league stats.

So I aborted the league and just went to one league...the Alltime Allstar Association.

Hopefully, we will be able to do what we want when V7 comes out next spring...it will automatically allow player transfers and not mess up the stats...and take forever to do it.
