I know Jason (gubaru) from the KBL. If he's involved, I'm sure the level of statistics detail available to the league is downright amazing.

I sent an e-mail inquiry to the WHBL commish e-mail account.

Port-au-Prince is taken.

They're going like hotcakes!!

Two left. Mexico City, which appears to have the plague, and Cali.

Okay, Cali is now claimed as well!

Poor Mexico City is all that remains. Someone step up to the plate!

Mexico City's got some mashers ... just needs to find some pitching, and in the weakest division in the league, will be right in the thick of the pennant race. Their finances are in order as well, with a fan interest of 78, so there's flexibility to add on to the current squad or subtract and rebuild as you choose ...

Tom,

Thanks for the vote of confidence.

Mexico City still has enough to stay competitive in the NA Central next year; so, the team's fan interest and revenue should stay in good shape. Without some creative trading, you'll be locked into the roster for 2003 but $50M+ in salaries come off the books at the end of the year; so, you'll have some great spending power come FA in 2004.

is open now too

the owners (a dual GM team) drafted a good, but old team in the initial draft a few years ago and now that they are retiring and looking like a rebuild project, the owners bailed on the team. they have traded away most of their draft picks the last couple years, so there is no farm system to speak of. they are in a financial quandry with very little cap room left and lots of older players still on the books.

BTW - one of the owners is a well known OT regular....PM if you want to know who the loser is.
The maturity you exude is amazing.

Indy has quite possibly the best pitcher in the league in 26 y/o Nick Hadsell, so come by and check 'em out ...

I agree! Don't let disposableheros scare you away. Despite what the critics say, the Clowns are exciting team with numerous excellent players. I personally have no doubt that they can contend this year and maybe even the next but if you'd rather more sustained excellence then there's a number of a valuable commodities to trade away for future gain. It's a win-win!

What a ringing endorsement for a league- to have one of it's members call you out when it's time to move on. *newsflash disposableheros* People leave leagues. We all have different reasons. Heck, I've seen well respected OOTP board Members bail on a league without notice except that they just decided to stop exporting. Rem offered that courtesy and doesn't need to explain himself further. We entered into the league together and elected to leave together. As lame is it might be to some of you I could care less. I find it sad that a recruitment thread for a potentially great league is getting stained because of this. Nice work dh.

I edited to include that time was a deciding factor in leaving the WHBL.

The Mexico City Aguilas and the Indianapolis Clowns are still open with a few days to go until the start of FA bidding. Rest of the links (rules, extras, etc.) are at the top of this thread, or accessible through the website.

Leave us a message on the Waiting List or PM Eric (enuttage) if you're interested in taking a team ...

I guess the reason that I didn't see these two teams open from the WHBL website is because they are listed here...

I guess the FA is already started and I missed the most important few days. But since Indianapolis Clowns has no money to sign anything, it wouldn't be too late for me to join now.

So, if it's still available, I would like to take Indianapolis Clowns and probably suffer in the next few years...

Btw, Clowns == Yankees this year!?

If you'd like the Clowns, head on over to the forums and sign-up and introduce yourself in the General Discussion sub-forum. Grab Indy's logo as your avatar and jump on in.

You've only missed one day of FA bidding. No biggie.

You don't have a lot of money to play with, but you can always trade!

Indy is taken ... Mexico City is still open ... still early in FA and the ammy draft (all of MC's picks are still on the board), so pick up your team now and get in on the action!
