New Monster 40-team League (Fictional) - "sister" league to the amazing POTD...

My name is Chip Orton and I am the long-time Commissioner of SMLB. I am
resigning my commissioner position of SMLB to start a new league
"Explorers of the Diamond". Signups for EOTD are now open (I have filled 24
of the 40 spots from leagues I am associated with and will now open the
league to others)!!! I will include as many facts about the league below, but I
will hit a few highlights here. This is a monster 40-team, 2 league, 4 division
fiction rosters league. You will be able to create your own teamname and
mascot (somewhat tasteful please) and will be assigned a team when the
league is full. EOTD will be a "sister" league to the extremely popular Pioneers
of the Diamond (POTD) league and there is even talk of the annual winners
playing in a playoffs. This WILL be the league to be in...period.

I am looking for DEDICATED owners...who will take the time to learn the players and other owners in the league.

Ownership of OOTP6 is MANDATORY! All of that being said:

In order to join, I need you to do the following. Reply to this email
with the following info:

* First and Last Name
* Email
* AIM screenname
* Your chosen teamname and mascot (can be given at a later date)

The website is up and functioning at http://www.explorersofthediamond.com.

Below is most of the information that you could ever ask for:

_Explorers of the Diamond Opens Its Doors! _

Created by long-time Commissioner of SMLB - Chip Orton, EOTD is a
monster 40-team fictional roster league that will set a new standard for
OOTP leagues. Using two leagues with 4 divisions each -- 5 teams per
division -- EOTD will be a "sister" league to one of the most popular
leagues in OOTP history - Pioneers of the Diamond (POTD).

With a new financial structure (no salary cap, $25 million cash cap) and
exciting concepts (create-a-player, restructuring of contracts), EOTD
will seek to redefine the way leagues are run.

_Breaking News!_

EOTD to begin play soon. EOTD will be looking for owners shortly!

EOTD started in the year 1992 and will sim 20 years before any owners
join. EOTD will start in the year 2013 to coincide with POTD's start of
the same year. Owners will determine their own team names and mascots
(as long as it's halfway realistic and somewhat tasteful) and when all
the teams are full, numbers will be drawn to assign owners to teams and
their respective divisional slots.

*_The Explorers of the Diamond League will feature the following:_*

• A monster 40-team league with 2 leagues (Yankee and Rebel) with 4
divisions apiece (named after Civil War Generals) – and those divisions
will contain 5 teams each.
• Playoffs will consist of 3-rounds – each round will be a best of 9
game series. (We are in discussions with POTD to have an annual All-Star
World Series pitting the winner of POTD and the winner of EOTD.)
• The League will start with a fictional generated history over 20 years
and then owners will be assigned teams and division slots by drawing of
numbers.
• Each owner will come up with a team name and a mascot (somewhat
tasteful), which will be assigned to their team.
• There will be NO DH in either league.
• Trading of Draft Picks will not be allowed.
• Drafts will be 12 rounds deep.
• Coaches and Scouts will be disabled.
• There will be no waivers in EOTD, just player releases.
• Every team will be given the opportunity to create-a-rookie. (May
repeat every 3 years)
• A new exciting contract restructuring rule has been implemented.
• There will be no “salary cap" for EOTD, but there is a harsh penalty
system for going in the “red” two consecutive years.
• There will be a $25 million cash cap.
• Amateur Drafts will be 12 deep rounds.
• _Ownership of OOTP6 is MANDATORY (NO Exceptions)._
• Use of AOL Instant Messenger is MANDATORY.
• No Rule 5 Drafts, but there will be Minor League FA's
• EOTD will use the “Export via FTP” for all functions including
exports, free agency and spring training

Looks like an outstanding league is cropping up and I'd definitely recommend checking it out!

Good luck with this
Managing 40 owners is going to be a nightmare

And a 12 round draft times 40 teams

I've managed 32 owners...and with a base of 25 guys that I have known for 2+ years...it shouldn't be that bad. The drafts need to be that deep to maintain a certain talent level in the league. We traditionally do rounds 1 & 2 of the draft in an AIM chatroom and then auto the rest. With the rule of no trading of draft picks, this makes the process much easier than it first sounds.

It's going to be a challenge, that's for certain, but I feel I'm up to it...do you?

Looks interesting but I don't have the time to sink into a third league

I am in smlb and have known chip for well over 2 years now. I know hes all about having a successful league and if he puts forth as much effort in EOTD as he did in SMLB, this fictional league will be right up in ranks with POTD in fictional leagues.
