Game won't load...

I've been playing OOTP for months and have had no problems. I love the game and think it's great. So far as I know nothing major has happened to my computer, but for some reason OOTP6 won't open. Here is the errors I am getting:

1 - a small windows box with a heading 'CreateSurface: backbuffer' the message says 'NODIRECTDRAWHW' ... then i hit the 'ok' button.

2 - another small windows box with a heading 'InitApp' with message saying 'Error InitDirectDraw'

Any ideas guys??? Please help... or my online teams will die!

Go into the “game”(OOTP, ITP, etc) folder and open the "game config" file, toggle the 3d setting, close those things and try the game again.

If that doesn't solve it, go to start then run and type dxdiag and hit enter. The direct X utility will open and it will let you know what version of direct X you are have installed. If it is less than v9 go to http://www.microsoft.com download and install v9, reboot your computer and then try the game again.

One of these two things should get things going. Please let me know if you are still having problems after trying both of these.
