Speed play

Almost like in Chess. Anyone else do it?

With previous versions I have gotten away from playing out my games.. the PbP is eh, you know, just kinda there and it took TOO LONG, for me, so I ended up being just a GM type guy.

I did not even know V6 HAD the 'Instant' pbp feature untill two weeks ago or so. Since then I have played out every single game - and have developed a speed style of play. I can generally complete a game in less than 5 mins - unless there is a lot of PH and pitching changes. I love it.

I've developed a system - it took me a while - where I can get into the flow of the game, understand the pbp and not blow spots (forget to PH for a pitcher, bring in a LvL match-up, et al.).

At the same time, I have an understanding for my team and its tendencies that I have not had in a long, long time!

Yeah. I don't do instant, but set the Pbp to fast. And hit the 1 key a lot.

Yeah, but if you find yourself watching a game on television, and repeatedly punching 1 on the remote, it might be time to take a break.

Cha - HA! I do find myself in manager mode a lot when viewing baseball recently. Since I live near Detroit again, I'm getting a lot of Tiger games - which is a nice break from ATL and CHI and PIT that I was used to in WV. I was a pretty big Tigers fan (a bad as they were) when I lived here before. They are a decent team to watch this year.

Instant? I had no idea about this. I have it on "Very Fast" right now. I'll have to look into this.

What always drives me nuts is when I start a new league, and go into watch a game, and discover that I left the Pbp on the default speed of normal. Then to watch it slowly scroll the start of the game until I can finally click the Options button.

Ha, I know exactly what you mean. And it always does two screens of it - the intro stuff, then the first batter - before you can stop it. I just fired up OOTP last week for the first time in months, and I had that issue. I guess you can probably change it in the Create folder and have it apply to all new leagues. I've done that with other things, like the award names.
