Export to FTP error
I'm getting an error when I try to export, it says "the server name or address could not be resolved", I've never had this problem before so I'm not sure what to do about it.
In a related issue I'm unable to view leagues who have their website on the OOTP league server, I'm thinking these 2 problems are related. Any help? |

Firewall settings. You have to check that or disable the firewall while you are using ftp.

Well, my search of all the FTP problems hasn't helped, so I'll just stick my question in the newest one..... I've been getting this error since Thursday morning in all of my leagues, but I wasn't getting it Tuesday. I have the firewall turned off and everyone else can still export to those leagues. I've ran spyware, malware, adware, and virus checks, found nothing. I have no clue what else to try. I'm just suddenly unable to use any FTP on my comp.
Obviously, my problem is with XP, not OOTP, but anyone out there have a clue as to what else I might do to fix this? |

Unfortunately, yours was the first thing I found and tried when I searched. Didn't help in my case, just opened up a blank OOTP Browser page.

If your running a hardware firewall with one of those routers you could check the settings there make sure the FTP port isnt blocked. Dont know how it could have gotton changed so that would probably be unlikely. You probably should call your ISP and have them check things out on their end.

I don't have a router, and the only firewall I have is the SP2 one, which is disabled. It really seems to be something in my computer, but damned if I can figure out what. I was hoping someone with more Windows knowledge than I would have some clue about what could cause it, because otherwise I fear a HD reformat in my near future.

Are you using the in-game ftp? Can you import and export teams in the game? Or are you using another ftp program?

The in-game FTP was what I was referring to, but I've actually lost all FTP capability, including my anti-virus and anti-spyware update progs. I'm having to manually go to the websites and download those, and manually export my teams in OOTP and e-mail them to the commishes. What makes it so puzzling is that I hardly touched the computer Wednesday, yet sometime between Tuesday morn and Thursday morn FTP just stopped working.

You should call your ISP, even if it isnt a problem with them their technical support staff should be able to walk you through a fix. If you have another computer in the house can ou FTP with that?

If it was so recently, maybe you should just roll back your system to a date when everything was working. (System Restore) But, can't you think of anything that you've done to your computer over the past week(installations, Windows updates, etc.) that could be the cause of everything??

Odder and odder. As I said, Tuesday, it was working fine. Thursday it was not. Friday and Saturday, it also failed to work. I had nearly given up and consigned myself to a roll-back and perhaps a HD reformat. Tonight (Sunday), I went to export a file so that I could e-mail it to a commish, and accidentally hit export to FTP rather than export.... and it worked. And has kept working. I no more know why it has spontaneously repaired itself than I do why it stopped in the first place. Apparently, the gremlins residing in my HD have taken pity on me.
Thanks for the helpful advice, though. |

Well, after a week and a half, the gremlins are back again. My confusion is complete.
